Is it worth shopping around, or are all dealers the same?
I've read the whole "Pure Pricing" bit on the website, but there was a little bit at the end about prices are actually set by the dealerships. I've got a lot of dealerships around me, so I can negotiate. Has anyone else had success with this?
You should really do a search first! You can not negotiate at all, EVER! If a dealership wants to offer a sale on the vehicle they can do that as long as they do it for everyone and is clearly posted on their price menu and website. In most areas the scion is in high demand, so your not going to find a better deal on it. Save yourself some time and energy buy it from the dealership that you feel most comfortable or in most cases the dealership that can get it for you the fastest. Get the idea of negotiating out of you head though, it isn't going to happen. Good luck to you.
No haggle, no hassle. Simple. Check out the dealers online first (scion.com -- Find a dealer). You can do that in twenty minutes or less. Look at the dealer's accessory or package pricing. Call around. See if they can get you the car. Take a test drive. You'll figure out pretty quickly who you want to do business with.

Like ^ said, negotaiting the price of the car will not happen, so save yourself the headache of trying. You'll find that the whole car-buying process is a lot more bearable when you can worry about getting the car you want instead of spending all your time dickering around with the price.
The only way to save a few bucks is to visit each individual dealer website's accessory menu and compare those prices. The Scion-brand stuff will be pretty much the same no matter where you go (usually varying only when dealers calculate labor rates differantly). The stuff that can vary a lot are the aftermarket accessories, things like moonroofs (xA/xB), leather, remote starts, cruise control (xA/xB), wheel & tire packages, etc.
Because differant dealers use differant sources and suppliers, there are differant costs and profit margins involved. If you know you want any thing aftermarket, browse differant dealer's sites to find the one with the best price but, again, keep in kind that what is on the menu is the final price. Same applies for extended warranties, GAP, etc. Everything that a dealer can sell you has to be posted in the store and the dealer's site and be congruent with what every customer is charged @ that dealership.
Simply put: What you see on the dealer's menu is what you will pay, period.

yeah, i really like the pure price aspect, its convient, and honest, now ive noticed other manufactures are trying to copy that, but they are asking redicoulous prices. in regards to the scion, ive heardsome dealers on here are charging alot of doc. and fees. so be carefull with that. do your homework

Absolutely you should shop around! No question about it. You are not searching for the best price, you are searching for the best dealer who will do things like they are suposed to be done. The price is posted on each dealer's web site and you'll find the only differences are in the various paperwork and processing fees and sometimes, in the price of certain accessories. Regionally, the dealer fees will not vary much so it really comes down to either who has the car, who has it allocated for fastest delivery or who will treat you right now and after the sale.
Don't reward dealers who try to pressure you or don't communicate with you. If they don't respect your point of view, leave immediately! If you let them sell you a car after that, you just told them its still OK to be rude and agressive.

There is a lot you can do using each dealers scion site to make sure you get the best deal. It of course starts with the dealers purre price. Next check their interest rates, also what they charge for extended service contracts.
Now, check their inventories, who has what you want in stock? If they do not have it in stock, do they own one that is due in anytime soon?
Check their reputation, here and on the BBB website. Do not reward a company with bad business practices with your business.
