Took my 20's off today and put the stock 15" Tires and Wheels on.... Went for a drive in the snow and found out the Scion xB is GREAT in the snow...just another plus!!!

I put my stock wheels on a couple weeks ago, the box does pretty good on ice too.

Im going home to State College PA for Xmas. Iknow Ill hit some snow on the way there, or at least while Im there. I cant wait to find out first hand. Altho I will be on my rims, not the stock shoes

Every winter all the new scion owners talk about how great it is, maybe i've been here too long. Either way, yeah it handles pretty well.

Although i avoid any winter weather if i can, and take a parents car to work or where ever i go.

This winter i hope to pick up a cheap winter beater so i can park my box over winter. Of course, driving it once a week just to keep it running correctly.

I got it for commuting, and here in MN, snow is a critical part of commuting.

Not to worry; it does fine. In fact, it's the BEST handling snow car I've ever had! Traction Control and ABS means that I can get going and stop with equal ease; something I've never had with any other commuter I've had . . . .

Even better question: Why put 20's on a box? Impractical, too heavy, looks retarded in my opinion. But, to each their own. I respect anyone who has put work into their box.

It's a lot easier to find a legit snow or 'mud and snow' rated tire in a 185/60R15 (or 185/65R15) than it is in some super low profile 17, 18, 19, or 20 inch tire... Lot less expensive, too.

Most low profile tires really suck in snow, and most folks prefer not to soak their 'spensive alloys in salted slush... :shock:

(We've only had about three inches of snow that lasted just over 24 hours around here before melting this winter, but in that admittedly very limited experience my xB was surprisingly sure footed. I'm impressed at how well the TRAC, ABS, and VSC work togehter. :) )

I would have to agree I live in the mountains of Colorado and last week worked up north and the roads there sucked but was impressed on how the Box Drove....

Just don't hit any snowdrifts! $$$!!

WIDE, low-profile tire offers less snow performance -- they ride up on top of the snow and skid and slide more easily; skinny tires can punch down through the snow and get better traction for starting and steering and braking . . . .

Most areas use chemicals or salt on roads, but here in PA, they put down big cinders that really hurt rims. So, I have my stocks on till spring.
