well, there's a new SPFR grill about to be released on the market (well there are allready a few out on the east coast), that's almost exactly what you skecthed out.

in fact the 1st one is on my car right now for a test fitting - just need to massage one thing and paint.

oh! these grills are urathane - not glass, nice and durable and no risk of chipping or cracking!

hopefully it'll be done by mid week- looks really JDM with the square cutout and the billet insert

uses the factory mounting pins and everything!

I believe list price will be $280?? i'm not sure on that yet...

i'll post pictures when i get home

I am not big on billet inserts, so this would be styled more like the c-one grill. Only with the ducted vent and black back drop.

Im not a big fan of billet grilles either, but I was surprised at the SPFR grille...Looks really clean.. Im not saying your doesnt look good though.. Id like to see a pre-production piece of it. Your sketches are hard to see with the resolution i have on my monitor.

Here is a working link of the image.. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/f8f36673.jpg

BTW- how thick do you plan to make the exterior border? I would say you have to make it a decent size or the slit will be really small.

i like the sketch posted with that small rectangular shape on the far right. i dont like billet though, is someone gonna put out one of these joints without using billet? maybe something to match the oem grills?

looks cool now that i see the original sketch. i would work a bit on how you integrate the air intake but beyond that its sorted. just a nice clean grill. make it in glass for like 200/250 i would buy one if it was quality. i think you should also have the option of badge or badgeless as well.

As promised, here's the pics - unpainted, and with a few minor adjustments to be made - but you get the idea

i'll probably run the billet (along with the 2 lower billet inserts) for a little bit, then i think i'm going to replace the top billet insert with a black or silver mesh for a more DTM look

- Brian

I'll post more pics once we finish tweaking and painting it!

:D
I agree with jonbee.
I already have a bB speed grill, but I think I would get that one when I want to change my look from time to time.
I know I am probably screwing myself, but if you did something for the lower grill inserts too. That would be nice. Have fun with the mod.
