the reason they dont put rims on it is so that you can get whatever style wheels you want not what they think looks good on the car.

As an owner of a RS1 for almost 2 years now; 03/13/04, i shake my head in disgust. I can not believe that with every release that Scion is putting less and less into them and selling them for more. For Example ....

RS1 .. Hot Lava Orange 2100 units. + $980
paint .. rear spoiler .. Hotchkis strutbar .. color matched fabric .. Pioneer 6 disc multi color stereo .. interior lights .. billet grill

RS2 .. Something Yellow 2200 units. +/- $1800
paint .. spoiler .. RS2 door sills .. mesh front grill .. OBX exhaust

RS3 .. Envy Green 2200 units. + $2200
Alpine headrest monitors .. front grill .. hub caps .. rear spoiler .. XM radio with 3 months free ( we all know XM did this cause Sirius had 3.3 million join over the holidays ).

It just makes me sad that Scion is cashing in on what is popular. I mean, isnt it good enough that Toyota is kicking ___ and is soon to take over or buy GM? Should they really knickle and dime the people interested in a low end low priced car cause its popular? Makes me glad that i bought my RS1 and that im not new to the Scion scene and paying a lot more for a lot less.

maybe 700 extra is a bit much, but when you look at it, your getting TVs installed factory with (im sure) a very good fit and quality seeing as how they are alpine. times change along with inflation and i am sure part of the reason it was cheaper in 04 was due to the newness... they had to get out their, and now the popularity is rising, so should their profits. i commend scion and would hesitate to give them what they deserve.

You do know that the DVD in dash is only a player. Your screens are in the headrests.

I'm with cbsimonsez on this, the RS1 was much better price point wise (and I still like the color more).

I don't think the pricing is that bad. The dvd player and dvd headrest screens bought and installed by the dealer will run you close to the cost of the entire RS 3.0 price increase. The memo the sales person had pointed this out.

When you add the security system into that I have no complaints with the pricing.

I was the first to put money down at my dealer and can't wait until it gets here.

No screen in the head unit, but a graphical interface. I had a chance to see the head unit. Not bad for a stock unit.

Yeah, the color is still 06U1. They just changed the name. Expect some metal flake, but not bass boat amounts.

I hope to be able to get some touch-up paint here this month so I can play with the color a bit like I did with the Hot Lava.

I have been waiting since Aug. when I was the first one in the country to order the RS 3.0. Finally the wait is over, and it was worth it. Looking forward to taking the Box off the dealers lot next month.

I'm saying no. NOTHING I have seen/heard has mentioned any difference in interior fabric. I'm sure it will have the new 2006.5 xB fabric, but my money is on it NOT being color-keyed.

In the previous release series they have been very proud of the color seat fabric and have always listed it in with the "mods". That isn't the case here so...

Yeah, the wife and I are going to be talking about that grille extensively tonight!

thats why they have all those safety crutches on the aftermarket ones. i think they just didn't wanna have to pay for alpine to make a real one.

I have to agree with the RS series getting out of hand and giving us owners less and less to look foward to...Don't get me wrong, if aftermarket audio/video is your thing than rock it by all means, but I like to watch Pimp my ride, not own the crazy modded vehicles they customize...

Really, I mean no offense on stereo equipment lovers, I'm an enthusiast from afar as well...I've been to tons of shows and seen some really impressive setups, but it's just not my thing, and I feel that Scion is really beginning to stretch for those younger buyers now...Nice creative marketing ploy, but nothing that interests me...And as far as Apline being the company of choice for the equipment??? Alpine is definitely old school and one of the greats so I give Scion credit for that...Again, good marketing ploy...Is it making me "green with envy" as the color intends??? Um, not really...

I also agree that the original xB and xA RS series were the best...

xb- Color keyed fabric, spoiler, JDM paint, 6 disc changer with color change, strut bar, billit grill and cathodes...

xA- color keyed fabric, enkei rims, and a moonroof, red illumination in the sotrage bin, sport mesh grille, and the cd changer with color change among other add ons...

Other than the exhaust on the RS2 xB, there has been nothing new...Even the RS1 tC was a waste of money unless you like a red car...The body kit and spoiler were add ons and didn't even come with the package...And as far as the RS2 xA sheesh, don't get me started on that one...They made it available in the 06' tC color big whoop...Looks like a plain old xA to me...

What's really sad is when we go to trade these limited edition cars in...Anyone expecting to get more than an average base model xB etc is in for a rude awakening...

More random thoughts ....

The reason there isnt a screen in the dash is for safety reasons. Install a navi unit and it says the same when you start the car up. DO NOT VIEW/USE WHILE DRIVING. Scion would be held liable for any mishaps.

The color ... isnt what i thought it would be. I was expecting a darker green. Maybe with a larger metallic flake to really set it off.

The options ... common, who yall trying to kid. I have seen on here some really nice head rests with screens installed going for 300 clams, give or take. Im sure that there are companies out there that can get decent ones installed for 600 $. Another $ 600 for a head unit. That leaves over a grand for the RS3 grill, wheel covers and tail.

Like previously posted ( Dan ) our RSs arent going to be worth more then any other box out there on the resale market. At best, maybe $500 more. People are getting the RSs to stand out a little further from the crowd that currently owns a xB. Its just a shame that its 1,300 more then what i paid for mine. And mine has the color matched interior. :lalala:

What is that.... "Radar Intrusion sensor equipped security system"?
Is it a built in radar detector? If so, the whole car would be illegal to drive in Virginia.
Previously, a rader detector could be unplugged at the border of Virginia and taken down from the suction cups that hold it on the windshield. Now, RS3 owners will have to avoid Virginia when traveling up and down the east coast.

Great color. I want it......BUT, I do not want to be stuck with options that I do not want.
Do not want:
Built-in Radar Detector, or any alarm.
Scion spoiler.
Alpine stero equipment.
XM Sat Radio.
Video screens in headrests.

They are correct in offering just hubcaps because whatever wheels they equip this release with, most owners will swap thier own favorate wheels onto the green box.

It looks good in person. I also like Alpine, and they should of overed NAV with this configuration. Then there would be an excuse for the screen in the front ;) If it had NAV, then I'd consider trading my RS1 for one. But I do love my xB.

Also in consideration for trade (My 02 Camry) is the New 07 Camry or 06 RAV4. I will decide in the next few months once released.

Trade-in always sux. They don't care what you added (wheels or otherwise) They will screw you over everytime. They :loser: make money on both the trade in and your new purchase. I hate the whole process actually.

The Radar Intrusion thing is a car alarm.

The "radar" feature reffers to an invisible grid around the windows and such. With the windows down and the alarm armed, it will go off if you put your hand through the open window. Kinda wierd, but it adds the security many of you have asked for.

As for the trade-in, look at it like this: If the dealership gave you the $15,000 you paid for your car then they would have to charge $16,000 for it just to cover expenses (yes, dealerships have expenses, salaries, medical plans for employees, used car inspections, detailing costs, etc.). Would YOU pay $16,000 for a used xB? I have a used xA sitting on my lot for $13,900 that nobody will touch! We will likely need to sell that for $12,500 at best just to move the car (read: make no money). Therefore, yes, expect to get between $12,000 and $13,000 for a very low mile, stock xB. Keep the mods for yourself. Dealers want these cars stock.

I hope that helps explain things. It sucks when it's costing you money, but that's why people don't buy new vehicles every year.

Actually, there was an xB on the lot when I bought mine, which had 10k miles, and was selling for $15k. I bought mine brand new for $15k.

Ever see the New York Giants' helmets, especially in HD? That blue would be AWSEOME. And it would have been better if Scion used the paint from the Oregon Ducks helmets for the RS 3.0.

For the R.S. 4.0 I think they should do it the Speedway Blue that is on the Toyota Tachoma trucks. Its a bright and bad A$$ color.

The radar intrusion on the security system is an old feature from Alpine. What it actually does is when some one comes in close proximity to the car the radar egg around the car falls back to the second zone which is the inside of the car so you would be able to sense some one entering your vehicle and therefore trip the alarm even if the windows were down!

Anyway, the RS4.0 xB will be released at the end of the summer as a "last hurrah" for the xB (as was previously mentioned). Even the things people "know" about the RS4.0 are shaky at best simply because Scion hasn't really 100% decided what they will be doing with it.

Following the release of the RS4.0 will be the release of the 2007 model year replacement for the xB (which will not be called and xB according to the Scion plan and the latest information). Let's call it the dL (because I love to watch a thread spiral out of control). The 2007 dL will NOT be the same car as the newly released JDM Toyota bB. It will be something different. The xB will be dead. Long live the dL!

If u go to Scion.com... look at the boxes on the bottom and it shows exactly how much it is and a little picture of it.. check it out is sweet... cant afford it though... going to stick with the white...

To trade in a box used with 8K miles and extras, your gonna lose. Dealers dont care about add ons. They dont go by KKB either. Youll be lucky to get 8 or 9 K for it.

I've heard the same thing other than its called something different that speedway blue but supposed to be the same or very close to it.

has any dealers seen it on their allocation sheets yet? or will it not show up till the first of february? just curious if they ship all RS 3.0 at the same time or not. i like in Oklahoma and have one on order and was wondering if it will come in by V-Day or do I have to wait to St. Patrick's Day since it is green?

I have mine on order at Bob Howard Scion of Edmond. I was told that I was first in line. Good thing you ordered yours at Fowlers. I would sure hate to hear that we both are first in line at the same dealership:)

Allocation of the RS3.0 xBs has begun. It wasn't a HUGE allocation though and there will be more to come.

Sold orders (people who have money down on one of these) are filled first, so you have a good chance of seeing your xB by the middle to end of February. Probably not by Valentines day though. Sorry!

That package is totally worth the asking price and I REALLY REALLY wish that I could get one but no matter how bad I want this car, I don't want to buy a car while I am still in college

Just to let you know that I got a call from my sales person and he said my car was actually in production sometime this week. Then it will be shipped from Japan to New York and from New York to here (VA). He said it takes about 10 days for deliv. So about 2 more weeks to go. YAY for me! :lol:

I just got back from Rudy Luther's Scion in MN. In just a few weeks, I will be the proud owner of an Envy Green RS 3.0 Scion xB!

I almost fainted when Nancy told me one was coming in on the next allocation and I could get it if I wanted it. Yay!

Scion is still new, can't go too radical and fast with cars geared toward early twenties and lucky high-schoolers (let them do that themselves and learn why)
and i don't think they could have made a RWD/AWD and still be under 20k until recently (maybe....)

Alls i know is shes a member of K.A.D., and shes trading in her R.S.1. tC for the RS3 xB... Thats all I remember, i dont remember who she said she got the info from herself.

i would have kept the red tC! only would have traded it for a HOT LAVA xB, I love that color. especially if its on a tC......

Some lady at Exposed 2.0 in Miami told me she heard that alot of people complained about the color tuned interior so they are going ahead and making it green also.

Anyway, I do not believe that the 3.0 will have the color-tuned fabric. It will have the 2006.5 fabric that all the '06.5 xBs have, but that's it.

It's too bad, I've always thought the color matched fabric was one of the best parts on the RS cars and I would've liked to have seen it in green. Oh well.

Look for pics of mine around the 20th of February. That's my most realistic estimate.

I tell you what I have found so many pictures of the RS 3.0 all over the internet everywhere. I think that picture came from the 3.0 they had at the detroit auto show. I went to our auto show in st. louis with the hopes of getting more and the rep said they would not let them take that car to any of the other auto shows......dumb but true.......I will send you all the pix I have...no prob....

I think it's a good color, but I would like to see Toyota choose a more subtle color with style. They are pandering to the rice-racer crowd. I keep crossing my fingers that they will bring out an Anthracite Release!

I have been looking in to that problem. I already have Sirius in my RS 2.0 and I don't
want to have a second account. I can add a car at Sirius for around $6. I found this
receiver at Crutchfield. Here is what it said:

So everyone knows, all the RS 3.0's are going to take extra long to clear the port. Alot of the special equipment is being added there. Figure about an extra week or so.

My dealer just told me tonight that I'll be driving mine in less than a week from now.

My dealer told me Feb 20 they arrive in New York. Then two weeks to install video monitor and any upgrades you order and to ship them to Maryland.

Mine isn't comming from port. My dealership bargained with another in order to get one for me. They weren't even supposed to get one of the RS 3.0's

the RS3 also has and indash dvd screen and apline speakers...your looking at ATLEAST 2500 worth of stereo equpitment more then likely +3000

consumer end, yes. But from their end, when they buy these wholesale, doubt 3000. THey probably spend way less.

I can't believe they install all the tv's here ..... why not when they make them..........

I've decided on a new xb. I was considering getting the new Release edition. I was wondering if some of the new owners could post their opinions on the extra eqpt., especially the Alpine stereo system. I need to decide on buying the special edition vs. the regular. I'll spend the extra $$ if peeps think it's worth it. Also, any additional accessories that I should be sure and snag?

As far as the extra options go for those of you considering. They are great if you have kids. I have a 2year old son and he loves the Tv's. It's great for that!

I personally got the 3.0 because I've always wanted a car in that color, so I'm just happy with that really.

Just ot let you all know, my sales rep told me that it's taking 8 hours in port to put the special package on each of them! So, they're very slowly trickling out from Portland, but we may have to wait a while!

With all the gravel roads rock chips are a big problem abut after over a year of driving I have maybe one rock that made it through the clearbra and from 5' away you have no idea it is on. well I gave our xb a good detailing yesterday evening and a fresh coat of wax. Should protect it from bugs and stuff for a while. Looks even better with a good slick wax job. Can some one tell me where the Fm antenna is on this thing?? I know where the xm antenna is but is the fm antenna in the front glass?? My reception sux. But the xm is good.

I have painted a few cars before and am no stranger to a buffer either. I must say that the little green Xb (or mine anyway) has on of the best factory finishes on it that I have seen in a long time!!

Does the XM trial start when you purchase the box, or do you have to call and activate it? I'd love to hold off on mine a few months so I can get all three months to cover my clinicals this summer.

Once you call it in, the xm trial starts. I activated mine lats Friday, and so far, I've been no more impressed than with regular radio, just they get to cuss and get away with it (which is fine by me, I'm very much against censorship). More times than not there's no song I like listening to on the channels that play genres I like.

Both of the rear glass panes have the Antenna built into them. Check and make sure you have nothing piled up around the windows. If you do, that'll be the problem. If you don't, I'd take it back to the dealer and make sure all the wires are tight and connected well.

On my 05 the window antenna have a powered amplifier that gets its power from
the head unit. I forgot to hook mine up when I switched to the Clarion head unit
and had to go back and fix it. I bet the port forgot to hook it up when they installed
the Alpine head unit.

We got ours, #829, at Valencia Toyota on Thursday night. #954 arrived at the same time there, and was already on hold for someone. I do know of one that is sitting at the North Hollywood Toyota dealer in their showroom unpurchased. It's an auto and they put some ugly, $3,000 chrome wheels on it though.

I really do not like the green that they used. It's way to normal, not in your face as the hot lave and the solar yellow were, I really thought I would want on e but after seeing the pics I'll stick with my Cougar. We have a RS02 Xb. I thought it would be cool to show up at am event with both Rs's If the car had been more on the lime or VW scarab beetle green then I'd be all 4 it.

You really have to see it in person. Pictures do not do it justice. Seems I remember a bunch of people complaining that the yellow was not yellow enough when it came out. We came out last night after a professional Lacrosse game and across the parking lot my RS3 just seemed to jump out just as much as my RS2 does. I have not shown up at any meets as I just picked up my RS3 Friday but I can tell you they look good together in the driveway

The wheels are temporary, just pulled them off the RS2 to see what they would look like but I don't like them that much. I will wait till my coilover gets installed to make a wheel choice

Picked it up in Orange California. Anyone who's already picked their's up could you help me out with 2 questions. 1.) the 3 free months of XM service, did you just contact XM and they knew you got 3 free months, or did you have to get a code or something from the dealer. 2.) The rs 3 comes with the Keyless Scion Security System w/ A radar Intrusion Sensor, Is that the same as the "Theft Protection"? While filling out the paperwork, the "Theft Protection was an option along with Lo-Jack, Appearance Protection, Gap Coverrage,.... I just want to make sure I'm not paying twice.

Thanks for any info, this is my 1st new car and 1st Scion. I'll post what number I have too. I know some were talking about the colour of the fabric, but my rs 3 has leather seats and rims. I didn't ask for them, the dealer had them already on the car, it was an extra couple grand. I thought it was strange, they weren't put on the regualar sticker but on another sticker. I think they did it to make some extra profit on the rs 3.

I saw a couple buy one of these in Nashville on Saturday. They took it out for a quick test drive (without the saleswoman), came back and signed on the dotted line. They never looked under the hood, they asked no questions. Amazing. The couple were in their sixties.

Okay, bear with me for one more Noob question... one I have not yet heard in here. So I figured I would go out and buy myself an ipod nano, to go with my yet to be delivered RS 3.0 (loading it up will give me something to do while I wait) and it occured to me. If I bought one of those video ipods, could i play music videos though the DVD player & headrest monitors from it? If so, screw the nano, I'm going with the video. Maybe someone out there has already experimented? Please let me know.

I doubt the video iPod will play through the headrests, but just spend the extra $50 and get the video. You get 30g instead of 4, and you get to watch videos, on a much larger screen I might ad.

I've been trying to figure that out. It seems no matter which video output selection I use I cannot get the video on the screens. :( You would think that you could. I have the 60g ipod video. No luck.

I dont think it can... Just audio, i tried with my Ipod video and couldnt figure anything out to play it on the monitors...

that makes sense actually. Apple is very weird about what will let you do what with their iPods and they are damn efficient at keeping it that way.

Oh Taters... I was afraid of that. Just a bit of clarification please. It sounds to me like I can listen to audio using the video ipod, but no video will display. correct? So now, which one to get. I was actually thinking of the 2G nano. It's small, it's cheap and since it is all flash memory (no moving parts) it's not going to break. For $100 more i get larger and 30G. Do i need 30G?? I seem to remember that there are some spare plugs in the back of the HU for A/V connection. Hmmm, well, that's another $100.00. This car is going to make me broke isn't it?

actually the iPods are put together very well and i would say that most if not all are extremely reliable.
I had my 1st gen 5gb hauled everywhere in my truck and in my backpack up until last year and the only reason i don't use it anymore is cause i ran out of space and i bought the b/w click wheel 20gb. the 5gb still works great as a portable HDD.
I wouldn't worry at all about the HDD iPods unless your REALLY gonna be bashing it about.

and if there is a place in the HU for a set of component inputs then yea that would work.

The only problem is there are two separate stories in the tread as to what the RCA jacks are for. One person claims that he hooked up a monitor and it fired right up. The other person said he hooked up a PS2 and can see it in the headrest monitors. Are they input or output jacks? Could they be both??

Oh, and my previous post said it would cost $100 to hook up your video ipod. I think you prolly only need the A/V cable which is just $19.00 (assuming the HU jacks are for input).

There is one video in, one video out that is running to the head rest screens, and a right and left audio inputs. To run another moniter you need a video amp to connect to the video out and then hook up as many monitors as the amp will allow. The two headrest screens are Y connected and only counts as one video out.

HU jacks are input. The person in the story about hooking a monitor up must have removed the yellow output and plugged his own into it.

I was hoping the way this would work is you hook the AV cable to the headphone jack and then you plug the bottem thingy into the cars ipod connector. Then you could power the thing from the car and also use the steering wheel controls to surf the ipod. Maybe?

Just got my Envy Green xB today...But when I check the agreement...they added $469 for the Scion Security System on the agreement...Now I need your help to find out ...are these "Scion Security System = Radar intrusion sensor-equipped Security System" the same?

I will go back to talk to them tomorrow if they are the same. Thanks guys..Please help.

it's part of the R.S. 3.0 package, there should be NO extra charge foir the security system as it's already built in price-wise to the $2400 extra you paid for the car.

You there might be a way using the 8th inch plug adapters to transfer video from an I-pod to the aux imputs on the headset video.....just kinda thinking aloud...

what up?! ALERT ALERT!! nOOb over here!!!! finally got my 3.0 after almost a month of waiting!! but it was worth the wait! HA! earlier while driving today ... i spotted a 2.0!! so we were crusin side by side for a goOd mile or so!! caught some eyes alright!!

:nope: I feel stupid here but anyone get a security manual with there RS 3.0? I thought we had radar intrution but tested it nothing happens.......... and reading about the xA security vs the xB they are different.... why the hell would they do that. I would love to have my xB auto lock when im driving and auto unlock when i take the keys out of the car like the xA. So im lost any help????

the security manual was in the pack. It's a very thin little book. Your security system will do the radar intrusion. Probably your dealer had the 3.0 on the showroom floor so they disabled the radar? There is a certain method to enable the radar, can't look tonight, but if no one else has it on hand i'll type it up or scan it for you.

when you car is parked, roll down the windows, activate the alarm , wait for the light to start flashing on the alarm indicator and then wave your arm around inside the window, and it should go off , mine did, you have to wait the 30 seconds or so until it activates(which is done when you lock the car with the remote)

How about for automatic? I was given $16.880 for manual, and $18,600 for auto. The automatic seems a bit spiked, almost $2k difference is ridiculous. What is the REAL msrp for the automatic one?

A quick question, are the floor mats included with this xB RS3.0? Also, are there any pictures of the interior? I want to know if the color is green inside also.

The inside isnt green and the floormats arent included unless they are port added. You might be able to get the dealer to remove some stuff the port installed if you dont want it.

Auto RS3 is $17,680 base. That includes the $540 delivery, processing and handling fee.

The dealerships in my area are all saying it is $17,800 auto. I believe the floormats are included with that price.

That would make sense then. Mats are $120 on scion.com. My dealer was selling them for $145 so they're using "pricing and availability may vary by dealer" to their advantage. :roll: You shouldn't have to get them if you don't want.

Hmmm, I'm beginning to question whether or not I should purchase the RS3.0, the RS4.0 is just around the corner as is the RS3.0 xA. Those may be better priced, as this one is a bit over priced for me.

If only I could have a release date and details of the future releases.

How is this xB? Did you feel like you got your money's worth? Other than the Security System, the DVD player, and the color, theres nothing much extra right?

Page one of this thread tells you what all you get. But yeah, I feel I basically paid $2300 for green paint because I didn't want anything else it came with except the spoiler. It's an OK price for everything you get if you wanted it all though. You'll have a hard time finding an RS3 now.

The 4 will have to be great, but remember there will be a good charge for the extras that you may or may not want, just like the previous RSs (and each RS has gone up). I intended to wait for the 4 too but when I saw the 3 on the lot I had to have it.

How could this not be standard with the RS3.0? How much extra does it cost at the dealership? Or if I were to install in myself... How much is that?

$260 at dealer. plenty of DIY options, from LED's to Cold Cathodes. You can even order the Stock LED's from an online site and diy. there is some minor drilling into your console with stock LED's for the switch and cup holder LED's, so if you aren't comfortable with that (like me for example), have someone else do it)

I read somewhere that you could buy the lights from Autozone for fairly cheap and install is that correct?

What are some recomended mods that won't break my bank?

search ebay for "green cold cathode" I bought two 12" dual sets for $12 including shipping. I like to tinker, so i will install them myself. it's pretty easy, i just need to find the right spot to power it and install the switch.

I have a quick question.

When I ordered my xB with the underdash and Cupholder Illumination... that's what I got... but I'm just wondering for the xB are they supposed to install ones for the rear also or not? The person who installed mine back at the dealer never done it before so it took twice as long than expected. I was just wondering if there were any anyways.
