I am happy to say we now have axle backs for the automatic scion that has no droning at freeway speeds. I have been working on this for a few months now and finnaly got all the info needed to have it available to you.

evilsciondude has been running on the new axle back for a while so you can hear his experience by PMing him. Very deep and low, practicly quiet at freeways speeds. :D

Ho yeah! :D
So, any chance we can get to hear what it sounds like?

Evilsciondude, were you riding the stock muffler before Stylis graced you with the new autoPipes? How is it now in your opinion?

Do you feel a difference in git up and go?

Damn excited for you and can't wait to hear more...

Stylis, what are you asking for this baby?

Thanks!

Whats the difference between Cat-back and Axle-back exhaust systems? And whats with the "for automatics", this is the first I've heard of a difference.

From what I understand he used a larger muffler with the auto axle back. The difference between an axle back and cat back is that the axle back goes "back" from the rear "axle" while the cat back goes "back" from the catalytic converter or "cat." Are you still using a magnaflow muffler or is a different one. Figures that you make one for autos right after I get mine installed.

Hello jdavid and welcome to the boards! :D Axle back is only the back section of the exhaust system and the cat back is what it says, hooks up to the back of the cat.(Half of the exhaust system replaced)
The automatic scion is louder at freeway speeds then the manual scion. The automatic is a 4 speed tranny where as the manual is a 5 speed. so the 4 speed has higher RPMs on the freeway causing more noise then some people can handle. So I have been working on the problem for sometime now and finnaly got something for everyone. Deep sound and quiet riding on the freeway! :D So, now you don't have to worry about droning noises on the automatics and still have the ground clearance needed to lower your car.

You whiz around the corner in your xb when you come to a stop. A funeral procession has paused for a quick breather. Empathy overcomes you and you ask the man nearby. "Were you close?" After a moment, the man replies, "Brothers and sisters I have none, that man's father is my father's son."

Who is the man you're talking to?

The father of the deceased. Sorry, I've been waiting a long time to answer that question, but never felt like posting it. :D

Hey, is the muffler a magnaflow still or is it a different brand??

I am still using magna flow, so you still get quality parts.

What are the stats on the power increase?

Power is key here in my choice on exhaust. Waiting for the dealership to get my xb in, currently driving a dodge ram with 260 hp lol. Its going to be tough as *&$@ dropping to 108.

what kind of HP gain do you want, because if you want a big HP gain , you need somthing else. The axle backs only help with 2 HP gains. :D

Stylis...Would it be better to have you do the install at your shop? I think Milpitas is a long day trip from L.A.

I'm thinking about going with the Borla cat-back, it seems a few people with xb's have done it and like it. Cost is definatley a concern, saw the Borla on ebay for around $186. I like the power ratings for this mod, 8hp & like 12 pf torque.

I ordered my ride with the AEM air induction. I was thinking of going with ceramic coated headers (also from ebay) they claim 8-16 hp gains listed at $169. My main concern though is not voiding my warranty.

Hey dude, congrats on your purchase, I know you will enjoy it.

As for your mods, those numbers are definately high, even too high... I think the highest dyno may be around 105. That is with intake/header/exhaust setup... for a total of about 10 or 11 hp. As for voiding your warranty, it depends on the shop and the warranty writer. The law, Magneson-Moss warranty act states that a shop has to prove your part caused another part to fail. So, you could argue if something breaks on your ride. As for Ebay parts, I'd be a bit concerned when purchasing parts from an Ebay seller for my engine. Could be a great deal or it could cause damage. I would ask around to find reputable dealers, some can even match ebay prices.

In any case, good luck with your mods!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I will definatley avoid the ebay headers...I sent the seller a list of questions. He didnt know what cat-back was, so I dont think I'll buy from him lolz.

Might I recomend asking questions to a person that is on scionlife a lot, and has a good reputation and over 80 100% Positives on ebay. :D Or even can get you a system that won't bug you at freeway speeds. (No exhaust system is made for both manuel or automatic scions except PrecisionMuffler.com) :D Just a shameless plug, since its my topic anyway.

Stylis, it looking more and more like I won't make the trip up there but, still trying to plan things out so... :?

How hard is the install to do, do you think someone with little experience at this sort of stuff can do the install? Does it come with pretty detailed instructions?

I hope I can drive up there...

Three friends, Mr. Green, Mr. Red and Mr. Blue, were talking Scions. One man drives a red xB; one a green xA; and the other a blue tC. "Although our cars have colors corresponding to our names, not one of us owns a car that matches it," says the man with the blue tC. Mr. Red answers, "You're right!"

What color car does each man have?

To answer his new riddle:

Mr. Green drives the blue tC, Mr. Red drives the green xA, and Mr. Blue drives the red xB, and I drive the Thundercloud xB. 8)

I'm good at these.

Stylis,
Have you done any Manifold back exhausts on an Automatic XB? CAI, DC sports header with a manifold back exhaust should provide a nice little power increase, right? Would the noise be manageable? I know noise doesn't mean power but on an xb with more power will you end up with more noise? I don't want my box to sound like a racecar because it never will be but I would like a little more umph.

Thanks.
