Default K&N Air Filter or go with a CAI/SRI??

I need to get a new air filter...I'm not sure if I want to get a K&N air filter or just spend the extra $$$ and get a CAI...but I want one that can be a SRI as well..

Any comments?

Then Injen is your choice. Posts the best HP increase as well... I'd definately suggest it....

Available in your choice of chromey or black.

Yeah, Injen was the way I was going to go if I did CAI/SRI...

But is there that big of a difference if I'd go with Injen over a K&N drop in air filter?!

I'm sure yes.... the filter isn't the true restriction...it's the airflow path to throw the stock box and tubing...

Why do you want SRI as well? Cold air = more hp :-)

Depends on the level of their paranoia... SRI for puddle fearing guys... CAI for the reasonable guys out there.

Nothing CAI or SRI is approved as of yet for the tC in California for CARB... so you're pretty much going to have to throw your box back in if you want to pass smog.

I'm in Central PA...the weather isn't anything like California...sorry. So it is a bit of paranoia if you want to call it that.

Today for instance, it's raining like hell and there are puddles everywhere near my place...they don't go up into the wheel well, but I don't need even the slightest chance of it happening...

That's the only reason I want the option of CAI & SRI...

Okay, I may have to treat myself for my birthday and get a CAI...

The SRI vs. CAI issue has been slammed to death about hydrolock and not a single tC driver has had an issue, and due to where the CAI is located, I don't think one will.

You'll love the CAI and not need to worry at all.

i accually heard that the k&n drop in filters reduce horsepower by 1 or 2... i think i saw it on this site i'll try and find it for you and give you a link to it... i also heard that doing the SRI option on the injen will cause problems because the filter will be cut from the movement of the intake and the fender friction... i'll post links when i find them...

In my opinion, the tests aren't 100% accurate.

"Our tC is pretty much stock with the addition of the Alfaworks Header that is in place"

They showed numbers for a "stock tC" when infact it wasn't (added headers factor).
Here are actual numbers from a stock tC dynoed:

Theres no doubt the Injen CAI is going to add the most HP gain for an intake, but on the same token I highly doubt the K&N will reduce HP.
