Default Bazooka Sub Question, Please help

Hello and Greetings. I finally got my NB Tc today and I could not be happier. Saving $ for the last few years was definately worth it. I have a few questions.

1. The fitment of the Bazooka sub seems a little off and the sub is a little loose from the side of the trunk, is this normal? (The parts guy said it was normal, but he also seemed in a hurry).

2. I also heard about a way to change the head unit setting to Xa which supposidly sounds better. How do you do this and will it have a negative effect on my sub?

3. Is there a way to up the volume on just the sub without the rest of the speakers, because I do have to admit the sub is not all that I had hoped that it would be?

4. How do you remove the sub from the trunk?

Your answers are appreciated.

I cant answer on your sub questions as I really know nothing about them, But as far as changing your HU to XA mode you simply turn the car on, hold in the SSP button until you hear a beep and use the HU volume control to change the settings, you can scroll through tC, Xb, and xA.

I did this last week and it sounds alot better!

Give it a shot.

Oh yeah, congrats on the car man!!!!!

Well you still have the factory headunit? If so does it have a sub control? It would say something like Sub+1 or VR1 +1 and you can adjust the volumes of them. I had my factory headunit for about a week and put a new one in so I don't remember. I'd recommend the same, you will have more control over the sub in terms loudness.

1.) Mine was a tad loose as well and the dealer said that was how it fit.

2.) Already answered.

3.) Pull the grill off of the sub and there is a **** to adjust the gain.

4.) Pull the grill off of the sub, remove the screws holding the sub, then there are two nuts inside of the box that need to be removed and the box comes out.

As for the sub not being what you expected? I agree. That is why I returned mine back to the dealer. That was an agreement I made with the dealership prior to buying it. Since they didn't have one anywhere that I could hear before buying, they told me that if I wasn't happy with it they would take it back. So I took my car to a local shop and had them build a box into the same location with a better sub and amp. Just about the exact same price, but better sound.

I think the sub was definately worth it. I keep the gain on the sub at 3/4 and the Bass on the HU at +2. This shakes my car plently. After going through the crap of running the sub and amp myself in my Supra i was glad to have someone else do it. I guess if you are looking for something to make you go deaf and blow windows out as you drive by, then this sub isn't powerful enough for ya.

Default Sub issues

I popped the screen off and adjusted the "gain" ****, I believe clockwise for more volume (is this correct). It does sound a little better now.

Do you think or know if switching to Ax mode will harm my sub or speakers?

The parts guy told me that there is nothing that they can do about fitment, its not quite flush with the inside of the trunk. Suggestions?

As a person who has never had a sub in their car before its not to bad. I still think that it could be a little better, but all in all I would say that I am satisfied. I just wish that the fitment could be a little better.

Switching modes won't hurt anything at all....that is as long as you keep the volume at a reasonable level at all times...no matter what mode you are on, if you turn it up too loud you could damage your speakers. Flip through the various modes on all three vehicle settings and find what suits you best. xA and xB are louder than tC, and sometimes do sound better and sometimes they don't. Just figure out what you like and go with it.

I agree that for never having a sub before, this sub would be fine. I had a much nicer sub in my last car which therefore killed it for me liking the factory one in the tC.

Do any of you know people who just put a different sub/amp in the stock box?

Thought about doing it myself, but then again why would I pay $500 for the stock box just to go spend more money to do it all over again? You would have to rerun power and signal lines since what is connected is designed specifically for the factory box and runs off the headunit.

Changing the sub out would be easy. Changing the amp out would take some work, but could be done. The factory box itself is fairly nice. Just think it needs a bit more power and a lower x-over.
