The boot sits at a certain height... the **** you got just might be threaded to be higher. Like the OEM ***** have a lot of extra space and then threads are actually near the top of the ****.

so it may be that its supposed to look and be the way it is and i either need to live with it or get rid of it

Ya... it's probably a combination of the shifter threading and the boot/threading of the tC.

I got the TRD leather shift **** and I love it, I had this same problem. So what did I do?!? I jamed that sucker in there turning it. It got pretty wild. What a night. =) I just turned it really hard and there is about 1 cm off the shift boot which I plan on getting my sisters black hair rubber band thing and just tieing it around the boot/**** and it will look great. woot and congrats to your ****.

If anything just do what I wasthinking. Just get some type of rubber band. As in your cast a white one and double wrap it and see if its any better? I have to do it because not only did I Really jam that shifter in there I dont think it will ever come off lol. and Every time I get into forth gear fast, I hear a clicky from the boot hitting the shifter rod.
