Default Component Speaker front Install questions. Please Help

I have infinity component speakers and want to install them in my car. How much of the old (current) wiring should be snipped when old speakers are being converted over to a new set? Since the component setup has the crossover I am going to assume a lot of the wires need to be cut. Also, does anybody know which colors go to what?

Is there a current "how-to" for front speaker install?

yo. well.... if i remember out of the top of my head.... if u have the factory component system. ur gonna use the 6 1/2" speaker wires as an input. which is comming from ur deck. now. how to remove it. i haven't done so yet. but i might take a look at my car... maybe take some pics and give u a nice how-to set up.

u will use the mid range speaker for input and completly not use the speaker wiring. since the tweeter will get signal from the crossover. and the mid range woofer from the crossover itself. umm heres the wiring from the speakers.. from behind the deck into the speakers....

Radio 12v blue +
Radio Ground brown -
Radio Ignition gray +
Radio Illumination green +
Factory Amp Turn-on N/A

RF Speaker +/- lt. green - blue +,-
LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow +,-
RR Speaker +/- red - white +,-

where do your mount your crossover? do you throw away the plastic keeping the wires intact if you are going to be matting the doors anyway?

well.. its up to u where u want the crossover located at. inside the door panel .... somewhere safe from the window/water/wires/etc. ummmmmm... u could double side tabe it to the door or get a back/strap and screw the crossover to it.. and find a suitable place for it.......... options are endless....

you're better off breaking the stock tweeter off then taping the infinity tweeter to the metal mounting plate where the stock tweeter used to be. That way there is no cutting involved.

are you using an external amplifier? If not you will only have to cut the feed from the radio to route it to the input of the crossover. The woofer and the tweeter are fed from there via new speaker wire.

You might want to check with Mandos on here, but I believe that the feed from the HU comes into the tweeter, then goes on to the woofer, so you will want to take that wire to the crossover.

Pics would be nice, or also any1 with a drawing of how it would look.

Im currently running with alpine components but im gonna upgrade to JL components and get a 300/2 amp for those. I want to run NEW wire. How would i get rid of the factory tweet since it has a built in crossover? Is there a way to do that?

I am in the same position. Im thinking about keeping the same crossover and just changing out the tweeter and midrange.
