Default drivetrain

since theres no drivetrain forum on this site i thought this would be the best place for this topic- move if needed.
anyway, i am selling my current car- '05 wrx because of financial issues and purchasing a tC. The wrx's trannies break like glass (strong but brittle) and can strip the teeth off the gears on stock power if driven incorrectly. Ive become so used to the "careful" aggressive driving style and very precise shifting not to mess up the synchros, etc.
My question is- how strong are the tC trannies? Do i never have to worry about it? because that would be amazing- talk about peace of mind- not very much fun to experience a tranny exploding like a ticking time bomb. lol
Obviously, it will be less stress on the tranny in general with the tC because of the fwd vs. awd- more slip = less shock

tc tranny can take some abuse but done expect over 300whp on stock axles (they seem to be weak)

but stock beat the crap out of the tc and it can take it trust me ;)

Im guessing you are looking at the 5 speed. I havent had any problems but mines all stock. I think I remember people saying the clutch was wearing out faster than they thought it should.

Toyota trannies generally hold up pretty well to mods and extra power. Like someone else said, the axles would probably the weaker link at levels past 300hp.

It's strong enough.

But Toyotas are NOT known for overbuilt transmissions. Toyota overbuilds their engines but when it comes to transmission, it seems they're only "adequate" which is of course, adequate.

The ONLY transmission, as far as I know, that Toyota built to be as strong as the engine is the Supra's transmission. Other than that one anomaly, all Toyota transmissions are OK.
