When I had my scion the extremes on the temps that I read were 8* while snowboarding, and then 122* out in 29 palms So. Cal.

never hit the negatives though

I'll be in Clovis (Central Valley) Ca, in 10 days..The Accuweather forecast is saying 64 for a high the day I get there...Sounds like a freakin' tropical island compared to this..

It is relative though-Tuesday we had record highs here, got up to 63 degrees, and in 3 days the high temp dropped 58 degrees

Drove up to Mt. Wilson with my son tonight to see some snow - 32° on the nose.
First time the tC hit the 30's

Didn't even realize my temp gauge went below 0. Also, pee freezes almost the second it hits the side of the building at -6

Forgot to mention, and I hesitate to do this...

My rear hatch began to rattle as we got into the 30's on the drive up the mountain. I had deja vu as I remember living in PA and this happened to most cars in the winter.
It did bum be out a little, but I think that the rattle posts may relate to temperature as the hatch was fine again once we got down the mountain.

^^ I know that rattles will be affected by temp, so those with the rattle may hear it differently as a result. I never had it thank god, but it looks like it was a smaller percentage overall since you never hear of it anymore. Mine has been driven from -20F to 105F, so I have covered a decent range

Another small point on the above...the section of road I did hear the rattle on was AWFUL. One of those old, really bumpy and full of repairs/frost joints - not the rest of the road which was newer and smooth.

No big deal - as I said, all cars seem to have rattles when parts shrink in the cold

That's crazy! I live in Fresno which is right next to Clovis. Its been cold here lately. (32 degrees here tonight.) Supposed to be 68 by the end of this week though. What's really crazy is that I have an older brother that lives in Davenport, IA! Small frickin' world!

Yea, Tuesday, I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the 63 degree weather. Two days later, it was in the single digets. Saturday, when I drove home (2 hours north of Des Moines), I saw -8 on my tC's temp readout. Isn't Iowa fun

^^ I drive through there when I go home to visit family (NE OK), so I go right through Des Moines. There is a line about 1 hr north of des moines where the cold just seems to come from nowhere. On one trip last year, it was 89 in KC, 70 something in des moines, and an hour north of there it was in the 30s.. very strange, but it is always that way. When I get close to des moines on the way down I can watch my temp reading climb almost constantly most of the time until I get south of des moines
