Default Custom intake and replacement of the stock air box?

http://www.aempower.com/product_intake.asp?subCatID=23

Hm is this going to fit on the intake piping that we have stock? If so would it provide any difference in performance? Iam talking about just replacing the stock box and where the stock piping ends put this filter there instead. I guess kind of like a short ram?

If this would work and not decrease performance (I heard K&N filter actually decreases it a bit) What size filter would I need to fit out stock pipe? The possible sizes are on the bottom right side of the link.

*If you are wondering why I dont just get a cai is because I really cant justify 250 dollars for just an intake that gives about 3-4 hp that I will get rid of in a few months anyway.

It's been done. Unfortunately, in my experience the most restrictive part of the intake tract is the upper pipe. Just replace the upper piping with some of the Spectre pieces, leave the airbox alone, and be happier.

well to be honest iam looking to do just some mods to get the engine as ready for a turbo as possible getting mounts, exhaust, gauges, and though id take out the stock box now since itll be gone when i turbo. and when i turbo i really want to use the filter to which I posted the link that is the reason for this mod so iam not looking to get better airflow just kinda something thatll help out a little. I appreciate the info though about the intake had no idea that it was more restrictive then the box.

BTW That looks nice ^^ dc strut bar? oh if you could specify exactly what did you do with that pipe for the intake? like what is it whered you get it from and so on.

Now can someone help me out with the question of what size filter ill need thatll fit on the stock pipe? ones again the sizes are posted on the bottom right of the link apreciate if someone can give me that info .

Edit* Wait a sec now that I look clsoer what in the world am I going to do with the sensor?

if u dont have an air fuel calibrator u might not want to mess with the maf pipe diameter . u will be sending bad signals to the ecu.

I've been searching for that same setup and still can't find it, what's the part # number and website for it?
