Default LED questions, plz help!

i have some leds, that get warm when they are wired to a 9v-- they came all on 1 circut board, and all ran off 1 9v bat. without the circut board they heat up a bit. does anyone know a way that i can wire them all on the same wire/batt. where they wont heat up? i was thinking that the more i have on the line the less they will heat up but i just thought id ask because they are super super sweet leds, and i dont wanna brun them out.

Wiring them in series will spread the voltage drop across all the LED's. In one, out, then in another and so on and so on. If they still heat up too much, try a resister from radioshack in series with them also. You are correct, if you add more LED's (in series) each one will heat up less, but also give out less light.
