See subject. I'm getting a sunroof installed and would like to have them add another light at the same time.

You should be able to order on at the stealership but an after market one would give much better lighting.

yeah, but if i was going for that factory look, i'd order an OEM housing and put an LED bulb in it. best of both worlds.

Sounds good but the problem is the factory lens. Being white plastic it does not allow for good light dispersion. The aftermarket ones from Autozone I used have a faceted clear housings that spreads the light out. No need for LED bulbs.

well, the factory light puts out a dim yellow light, whereas LED puts out a bright white light. or any color you desire.

NO, the lens is white plastic. Not clear transparent. The white plastic does not allow good light transmission, doesn't matter what type of bulb or light source you use be it standard bulb or leds. Also where are you going to get a reaplacement bulb in led for the factory light? I thought it was the long tube type bulb.

they make the long tube looking ones with, like, 9 LEDs in them.

Oh ok them whatever you want to do. I like the two Auto Zone ones. I have one in front between the visors and another in place of the OEM one. I'm planning one for the rear cargo area also in the near future

I was wanting to add another OEM dome light in mine so I checked out the dealer. It was under 35 complete with bulb, lens, housing...everything. I haven't got one yet, but that is the route I am going to take (dealership part) when I do decide to add a light.

For what it's worth, I just put in the auto dimming Gentek mirror w/map lights. The lights are very impressive. If you want major lighting, naw.... But if your looking for good lights to read a map,.. and they show light nicely between the steering wheel and the driver, where you might try to read directions or sumpthing.

On the after market one I added between the visors I put a dimmer bulb in it and it works great for reading maps. Plus it has an on-off switch that can be turned on whenever I want light. Total mod cost was 5 bucks.

If you do buy another one from the dealer (like I did), put these bulbs in:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Xenon...QQcmdZViewItem

They may not be much brighter, but they change the color temperature, so they SEEM like they are brighter. A much moe natural white light IMO.

Sorry for reviving yet another dead thread but I was wondering...you got another dome light at a dealership? How much did it cost you?
