View Full Version : spoiler install
Neothin 03-14-2006, 12:50 PM I don't know if this should be in aero or interior so move if necessary.
I'll be installing an aftermarket spoiler that I got off ebay this afternoon. How do I go about taking off the interior plastic pieces on the hatch so that when I drill thru I can get a nut on the bolts?
ack154 03-14-2006, 01:46 PM Spoiler? eBay?
This can't be good.
Anyways, this thread might help:

You'll have to scroll down a ways though - but you will get to a point where they remove the hatch stuff.
elemeno 03-14-2006, 06:33 PM Good luck, the interior is really easy, Just a few screws, and a few tabs. But when drilling through the lid get ready for one hell of a time. Under the sheet metal is aharder metal skelatin. I dont know why I did'nt consider this when I did it but its a B@*ch to drill through. Even now my wing is a litle loose due to the crazy curves in the skelatin frame. Anyway good luck, and remember at least it'll be unique.
Neothin 03-14-2006, 10:37 PM alright so we started the install @ 11, and ended @ 4 with a 1 hour lunch break in there. The drilling took for fricking EVER. Dear lord, seriously that interior bracing ____ is for the damn birds. Getting it aligned also took a bit. Nonetheless, it finally got installed and looks fricking awesome. It's kinda dark right now, I'll take some pictures tommorow.
jfish43 03-15-2006, 04:21 AM Did you get your dde's installed this last weekend? If you did post some pics of those as well.
Neothin 03-15-2006, 01:56 PM I haven't had a solid couple of hours off to get them installed. They'll be put in this saturday. I'll be sure to take pics. Friday I'll be installing my PIAA 2100XT foglights behind the lower center grill. So many mods, so little time!
Neothin 03-15-2006, 06:30 PM here are some pictures-

ack154 03-15-2006, 06:35 PM That's not as bad as I was expecting... you did say "ebay" ... so I was quite worried.
Not bad though.
_-Dark-_-Scion-_ 03-15-2006, 06:46 PM you know what? It looks mighty nice. GJ
Neothin 03-15-2006, 07:00 PM no ack, it isn't one of those aluminum tri-wing designs. though... could you imagine the downforce i would get if i bolted one of those on top of this one?!
jfish43 03-16-2006, 12:32 AM Pretty nice. I think it flows with the car. Looks almost like a new tiburon spoiler
Neothin 03-16-2006, 02:04 AM I think it might be off of the corolla actually... I was sitting behind one at a light today and it looked really similar.
Eppopipe 03-16-2006, 04:38 AM how much
i kinda like it
Neothin 03-16-2006, 12:41 PM I got it for just over 100 shipped off of ebay from exotic truck and auto (or something like that).
gjpjr84 03-16-2006, 03:27 PM wow thats better than i thought it was gonna be (ebay had me worried)
now you need to lose one of the brake lights
Eppopipe 03-16-2006, 09:07 PM hmmm
did it come painted?
100 isnt bad
Neothin 03-17-2006, 02:04 AM nah, didn't come painted. I had it painted by a local shop that I get all of my automotive stuff painted at (basically i didnt want to get paint thru the vendor because i knew that i could get a quality painting locally). But the vendor had another auction for the same spoiler that was painted (you supply the paint code). The cost for that auction was like 75 bucks more.
I'm gonna keep both of the brake lights. I know it looks kinda cheesy having a third and a fourth, but I was rearended once in each of my other two cars so im kinda paranoid of people not seeing that i'm stopped. the more brake lights the better :D
gjpjr84 03-17-2006, 03:22 AM um..... alrighty then, more power to you! :) seriously.
heyitznosaj 03-17-2006, 03:36 AM Scion should have offered that spoiler instead of that hideous pedistal spoiler.
gjpjr84 03-17-2006, 03:43 AM thats your opinion.
