Default Need help with RS 3.0 security system

My first post here. Hi, I am now the proud owner of the RS 3.0, #812. My question is about the security system that came with it. It does not seem to be working the way I expected.

It locks and unlocks the doors just fine, and the panic button also works. But, when the doors are all closed and the alarm is suppose to be set, I have tried to open all the doors and pecked on the windows trying to make the alarm go off and nothing happens.

I there something that I am doing wrong, or what? After coming home and looking through all my papers, I never even received a guide from the dealership about the security system. The dealership is two hours away from where I live.

I did print off a xB security guide from another thread but couldn't find anything in it to help with my problem.

Any suggestions from you guys and gals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe you only have the keyless entry and not the security system.

RS 3.0 comes with radar security system. Leave a window down, lock doors, wait 30 seconds for alarm to set, stick you arm in window and you should set off the alarm. Mine will.

I did the tap on the glass thing io the tC and it didnt go off. Its a good thing that it doesn't go off cuz a slight vibration would make it chirp.

maybe it doesn't have a shock sensor? Try what PIMP said, if that doesn't work take it back to the dealer and ask them to show you how it works

All Scions have keyless entry.

The optional Scion security system is crap. Do a search and you will see why. It's more of an immobilzer than an alarm. A window can be broken and no alarm will go off.

However the "radar" security system that comes only on RS 3.0s is so that your headrest monitors aren't stolen. It has a sensor inside the vehicle that detects when something enters it, similar to the alarm standard on many convertibles, so that the owner can leave the top down and feel safe about their belongings.

Saweet!! Thanks for that help. I was just wondering the same thing.

I have another question for yous. There seems to be a feature on our rs 3.0 radio that says "bass e." I can't seem to find out how to turn it on.

yeah, my buddy hates when my alarm is on, cause it makes his radar detector go nuts. As for the glass tapping thing, there is some way the dealer can 'supposedly' adjust the sensitivity of the glass breaking sensor, but all I know is the 'supposedly' part of it.

PS - If you figure out how to get the Bass E. to work, let me know. I've been trying to get that to work too to no avail.

They can adjust it but they usually say that it doesn't need to be adjusted.

Get a Viper or clifford 2 way remote system that way you get security that works AND remote start. You can also have optional automatic window roll up, GPS locating, Feild disturbance sensors, glass breakage sensors, Tipping sensors...... Skys the limit. And it is all two way so even when your out of ear shot you will know your alarm is going off
