I just pull the e-brake one click, that way it just triggers the relay for the light, and it doesn't activate the brake... but allows you to play the dvds.

I would go with the grounding the wire instead of pulling the e-brake up one click. If your e-brake is tight, that one click could make the pads barely touch the rotors. It probably won't, but I wouldn't want to chance it.

Do the wiring thing, but don't get caught driving with it on, I've heard its a $5000 fine in AZ and its probably similar in other states, but i watch mine all the time, watched 4 movies while driving back from Colorado to Phoenix...that desert is too boring

depends on the unit... a lot of newer units its not just as easy as grounding out a p-brake wire.. such as for the avics and the ivads.. but it all depends on what unit you buy..

Tweetertc has it correct. Some of the newer units are gyro based, meaning that any movement causes the controls to be disabled. Others are ground wire based, and still yet, some are firmware based.

If you do decide to by pass it (assuming your model is capable), I highly recomend a toggle switch. I was pulled over once, and actually askedif I was watching movies. Luckily for me, I only had the NAV disc in, but after that, I did a toggle switch, so if I ever get pulled over, I can just flip the switch to disable it

Been pulled over a couple of times while the tv was going and just pushed the tC cover down to cover it up. I think since it's a double din in dash, it's harder to see.

I have my IVAD310 on a toggle switch. No e-brake for me.

if you got a Kennwood DDX you don't need a toggle switch...just hold the V.Sel button in the lower left corner for like 2 secs and it kills all video, just the buttons along the edge stay lit.

the ivad you need a pulse generator..

the avics... you need to do either the solder or extra wire trick..

the lower end like jensen, clarion, and stuff such as that.. you can just ground out that wire...
