Default Mounting a gunrack in my tC.

Just kidding about the gunrack, but I would like some suggestions on were to mount my XM antennae. Should I bother to run it to the back of the car or should I mount it under the windshield. I just don't want to mount it and find out that it has poor reception.
Thanks,
Matt

Heheheheheh...

Sorry, I just rolled in to see what was going on - expected somebody from Texas.

My only suggestion is to make sure it is not positioned where the wipers will disrupt the signal when they are on.

(Q. Which vehicle has the right-of-way at a four-way stop? A. The tC with the gun rack.)

Would it work to mount it on the rear glass roof panel? It would be towards the top of the car and halfway hidden up there. Don't know about the wiring or how reception would be. Just giving my .02 on where I think would be best.

And the "gunrack" in your title really brings attention to the post. When I clicked on it, I was thinking "stupid rednecks". haha

There's a hummer H2 with a gunrack mounted to the top of it around here.. I think it's fake but it's really hard to tell.

I would probably be the first to have a gunrack in my "mods" list...if I ever make a list.

I was thinking about that, but me having to run wire for any long distance is not pretty, so I'll probably just stick it on my dash. I just wish the wire didn't have to be visible. Thanks for the suggestion!

Matt-

i originally had mine mounted in the corner of the windshield but it got poor reception so i put the anntenna on the back, routed it though the bottom rubber strip of the hatch, then up through the headliner, down the drivers pillar, under the steering column then up through the shiftboot and its mounted in the little cubby by the cig adapter. if you want pics let me know and i can try 2 post them.

i put mine in the rear roof glass. reception is fine. and you can run it down the pillar. under the seats and up through the center console.... it would be simple. i just am too lazy to do so.

Thanks for all of the ideas, I think I'll try putting it on my rear "moonroof" section; hopefully there is enough wire.

It doesn't have to be visible. actually none of it has to be. You can stealth mount it under the dashboard up towards the windshield. signal going through plastic and glass is nothing.

antennas are ugly.
