Go with either a Kenwood or Eclipse. I personally have the Kenwood DDX 7017. Check my profile for pics.

Go with Eclipse. I am getting the AVN6600 when it comes out. But the other AVN's are nice. http://www.eclipse-web.com/6600index.html

I would suggest the new Pioneer Avic-Z1 that will be out this Spring. It's supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread!!!

This is true Eclipse does make the best sounding radio's, and with the Eclipse double din, you wouldnt even have to worry about buying wires. Because it wires directly to a our factory Toyota harness, hmmmm i wonder who this unit was made for. But it is definatley a good choice and easy to use, which is always a plus.

Hey this guy is selling an Eclipse double-din for $800 of retail price in the classified section, which ain't bad at all. He only wants local pickup, he's in So-Cal, figured it might be worth the trip from AZ, to save some money and get what your looking for. Just thought i'd let you know.

The only problem that I have with the Eclipse is that the RCA's only put out something like 0.5 volts. I read this on Eclipse's website. You should definately think about reading the specs on it. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've always heard nothing but good things about Eclipse but this radio was a REAL shock to me that's why I'm going with the Pioneer. I have lot's of respect for Eclipse and all of their products but come one, 0.5 volts, that's rediculous! Anyways, that's just my .02 cents. I hope that you are happy with whatever purchase you make. Peace.......

if you look here:

http://www.eclipse-web.com/cd/spec.html

it shows lineout voltage from 2.5 - 8 volts on CD1000 to CD7000. Or am I looking at something wrong?

Well, that's not where I was looking, those are for the CD recievers, I was talking about the double din navigation HU. If you can, would you go to their website and check it out for me and let me know if I'm wrong, for some reason I can't get to the page that has the Navigation stuff on it. Thanks.

Sorry, my bad. Ok. The HDD series are 2v - 5v . I don't understand the difference. But the AVN7000 is definately 2 volt. With the DCU105 connected it is 5 volts. The AVN5495 is also 5 volt.
http://www.eclipse-web.com/avn7000/fea-list.html

Now the DVD series: AVN6600, 5500, and 5435 are all 5 volt pre-amp outputs.
Hope this helps.
Try looking here at the 5435:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-yZttwkM...099AVN5435#Tab
crutchfield shows the AVN7000 voltage as N/A. the AVN5500 is here: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-yZttwkM...099AVN5500#Tab

all the voltage reading for the RCA's is is to ensure compatability with the amplifier's gain settings.... generally the higher output and gain voltage, the better the quality as long as your amp can match that gain and keep from distorting/clipping

That's cool, but what i meant is I did not understand the way the web site posted the AVN7000 as 2v and/or 5v... lol :D I guess it is the DCU105 thing that makes the difference. I DO understand what voltage does on the pre-amp but you explained it so I know a little more... Thanks

Why DD? You going with a display?

Either way, I like Eclipse too. Next time you're near Camelback or, if you're going to the Wickenburg meet this weekend, check out my system. 8V out, single din and very clean.

Like the earlier post said, if you have a newer xB with the audio controls on the steering wheel, the Eclipse units connect easily.

To check them out call Listen Up, ask for Tom and let them know I sent you! 602-485-8855.

I wouldn't go running to a fuse just yet.... check all your connections with the HU's book and the markings on the wire harness, make sure they're all correct, make sure they're all solid connections... make sure you've got your constant power wire and your ignition wire both hooked up properly, see if maybe the HU needs an extra ground hooked into something....

amanda:
most shops will install a HU for about $40-$60 if it's not a difficult install (most autos are simple installation)
