Coming to DC, where to stay?
Alright, on our way back through from Williamsburg this year, we thought we'd take the boy to the smithsonian to see the dinosaurs. Problem is, I don't know my way around there anymore. Can people suggest a place to stay (cheap but not sketchy) that's easy in and out of town?
What's cheap to you? Unsketchy places to stay close (ie walking distance) to the Metro can range like $100 - $150/night. Prices get lower the further out you stay. and you can drive to the Metro stations and park.
I don't know much about VA hotels (anyone? Bueller?) but this and this are hotels in Silver Spring (3 blocks to Metro each and near Discovery HQ, which has a dinosaur in the lobby), and this one is in College Park (closer to 95 but a little drive to Metro) and features a "Fun Dome" for the boy... Or you.
We just spent a couple of days in DC on spring break. My son loved all the sites to see.
We stayed at Fredricsburg on I95 the first night at Hampton Inn, $99 for 2 beds and smoking section. The Bob Evans resturant nearby has XB toys beside the register, $3.99 and had 5-6 different colors. I got the yellow, wish I had gotten both of them. Stayed 2nd night about 20 miles closer to DC also on I95, at a Country Inn (very nice) for $99 (two beds and smoking section). They also had a Bob Evens, but only 3 colors of XBs.
