I ordered my VIS OEM CF hood from Island Motorsports on friday
should be getting it later this week hopefully!

anyways my questions are:
who has this hood on their xb?
how's the fit and finish and does it fit perfectly?
also i saw on their website that they require hood pins and that its
for off-road use only ?! HUH?

do i really need hood pins or can i use
stock hood latch?

We have been selling vis hoods for 5 years at the shop i work at. They fit great, look nice and we have never use hood pins on any or them.

 

Not bashing but these questions should have probably been asked/answered before you purchased the hood.

 

Dressed 2 skill is wrong,. I have this hood and it def needs hood pins. the fit ment isnt that great like gaps on the sides. and it def pops out in the front needs hood pins!

 

I have had 3 vis hood on 3 different cars. Hood pins arn't needed in my opinion, I have never had fitament issues either but that is with other cars I know vis makes good stuff though.

hood pins are definitely something to consider with a CF hood. considering the weight reduction you get with the hood from fiberglass, you're better off getting them just to be safe.

 

I have a C-Wings hood and it fits perfect.

 

but drillin into cf is scary

 

I've never drilled into carbon fiber, but I can't imagine it being that difficult, or scary. Use a small drill bit then a slightly bigger one, and so on, and so on until you have the correct size holes.
