Default Dynamat and Subs ?!?!

Hey all....

Several questions....

Does having dynamat put on your car actually help with road noise?

How much will a capacitor help the system?

Has anyone had any electrical issues when adding an amp and lighting kits?

Thanks....

1. yes it does but don't use original dynamat get the extreme

2. as for a cap its basically a short term fix to a long term problem if you need a cap for your system just upgade the alternator to a H.O. alt

3. to answer this one NO if you do you screwed up take a step back and rewire it

Dynamat does help. There are other products on the market that work that are not nearly as expensive. I also don't believe you have to do the whole car. There are hot spots for noise. I suggest pinpointing those first and then working your way around until you get it to the level you prefer. Remember that most of the sound dampening sheets such as Dynamat are heavy and the weight will add up quick which will slow your ride and reduce fuel economy.

Capacitors do help if you are pulling enough power. I had a 1 farad cap in my last truck on an Alpine MRV-1002 running 3 12" subs. The cap had a meter and LEDs that let you know when it was really being used. It only lit up when I was playing very low bass VERY loud. It may have helped at lower levels but the amp didn't pull enough to be noticeable to the meter. A lot of people don't believe in caps but if you look at all the major players in the world of audio competition, almost all of them use them whether you see them or not. They provide the quick shot of power that an amp needs to play those deep tones. A more powerful alternator isn't necessarily the cure. The surge of power has to travel from the front of the car to the amp. The cap will be right there waiting. Plus a cap is much cheaper than an alternator upgrade.

Another battery is a pain to wire plus there are safety issues particularly since there is no trunk to put it in.

Dynamat has greatly improved the clarity of my music by adding better midbass, and nearly eliminating road noise.

My 15 farad Phoenix Gold Ti powercore makes sure the lights don't dim.

Got amps and lighting kits, no problems.
