Default Help with laptop in car

Ok guys, not sure in what section this would have gone so I put it here (modders fell free to move I know ya'll will)

Ok I really want a way to hook up my laptop to my indash dvd player. I want to be able to like put a nav program or use the nav based discs on my laptop and have it show on my dvd player ot if I have a passenger that wants to watch a movie I have "backed up" on my pc they can. How would I go about hooking up my laptop? I do not have an s-video port on my laptop, just a serial connection so I would need something like a serial to svideo or serial to rca cable if they make such a thing and I guess a y adapter for the audio. Not 100% sure if do-able so I figured I would ask. Please help

I think it depends on what kinda input that you in dash DVD player has. See if you can find a VGA>RCA cable. I dont think serial can transfer vido feeds. The monitor cable is the blue plug. Saerch ebay for " VGA RCA" and you get a ton of hits

www.mp3car.com is an awesome site regarding putting computers in cars. Check it out and I am sure you will find the answer to your question.

I was thinking of the same thing actually...

I had an Averatec which had an S-Video out which i though i could hook up to a dvd player..

And i might even suggest getting a lillyput monitor...

It would connect to the laptop with no problem, have touch screen capabilities, and is pretty cheap .. ($250?)

Something like this would be best
http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-to-Composite...QQcmdZViewItem

and just plug the composite yellow cable (video) to a composite yellow input for your screen and then you should have like "input 1" or "video in" or something like that on your head unit and select that and you'll be able to see everything on your laptop on your head unit.
