After looking reading over the tC factory manual (see http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13637 ) I have learned about alot of cool little features that the tC has. Some you may know about already some you may not.

-Air condition controls made from cast aluminum This is great because the plastic A/C knobs on my Camry are one of the few things to ever break.

-Oil change warning light lights up every 4500 miles to remind you to change the oil. (easy to reset using tripometer button)

-Tire pressure warning light Takes into account the speed of each wheel, and the outside tempiture to determine if your tire pressure is low. Can be reset for new tires using a button in the glove box.

-Seatbelt Warning light and buzzer A light will light up if you fail to put on your seat belt, if you go more then 9mph without your seat belt on a buzzer will also sound. (dont worry unsafe drivers, it is possible to disable the buzzer)

-All auto power windows Driver and passenger window go up and down with one click.

-Engine immobilizer All keys have a built in transmitter that is need to start your car. Makes your car ALMOST impossible to steal.

-Driver knee airbag keep your knees from being hurt in a crash :)

-Lay front seats all the way back to create a "social space" Works great with the reclining rear seats and panoramic sunroof. (see pictures below)

-Driver seat memory You can mechanicly store your seat position so you can let people in and out of the back seats without messing up your seating postion.

-Wireless lock/unlock buttons on the key Saves space and looks cool.

-Customizable Welcome message on the stock Stereo When you turn on your car you can set the stereo to display whatever you want. (avalible on all 2005 Scions)

-Reserve Gas tank The Gas gadge goes to R for Reserve (insted of E for empty) just like BMWs, giving you some valuable extra miles before you run out of gas.

-Lexus levels of sound proofing Gives the tC a nice quite ride.

All of these features really make the tC. This is one of those cars that you learn something new about everyday. The more I know about the tC the more I want it.

so the key has something on it needed to start the car? so how is it ALMOST impossible to steal? thats what i'm worried about...i can't afford to have ANOTHER car stolen! if it has that thing on the key...should i get the scion security? or not bother?

well I'd honestly recommend going aftermarket on the security if you decide to get it.

But that is just me. $500 can get one hell of a security system, there have been a couple threads on this out there already.

yea i've seen them, but scion offers a security system for like $469 or something, so i think i'd rather do that so atleast its under warranty with the car you know?

Well, no car is impossible to steal. They say ALMOST because the chip in the key communicates to the ECU and won't allow the car to run if it is not the right key. (No hotwiring this car) This feature was on the 2000+ Integras also, but they could still be stolen by using an older ECU to get the car running after breaking the ignition. As long as there is no alternative ECU available I don't see any common thieves jacking this car by driving it away.

You can always tow or push a car no matter what alarm system is on it, so there is no real way to make it theft-proof. Also, heard of car-jacking? ...or your purse could get stolen, or someone could break into your locker, etc...

I don''t see the tC being a high-theft car for a couple of reasons. The first is that most of the parts are not interchangable with any other cars, so theft for parts won't be common. The second is the the engine is common with the Camry, so no one would steal it for the drivetrain since the Camry is much more common. Lastly, the car is relatively inexpensive and won't be terribly uncommon once the are released, so that will limit joyriding theft.

good point.... got a sister? hehehe

$469 for install & warrenty might be worth it. Plus you get the hassle out of the way

very good points, besides if you are going to go for a joy ride why not take something like a vette or viper?

Yea, I was not trying to make a complete list of features. There are still lots features that could be added to the list. :)

You can see a more complete list (they dont have many of the "little" features) of features here: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2005/scion/tc/100394782/standard.html?tid=edmunds.n.ratings_consumer.leftsidenav..7.Scion*

I read in one of the reviews that there is a significant amout of road noise in the tC which worries me. Having driven my '01 Tacoma and making more noise than I would like to hear at highway speed, along with the bumpy ride quality, which are the main reasons I'm thinking of getting the tC. But hopefully the tC is what I've been waiting/looking for. Is it too much to ask for a nice performing, quality ride, with good/useful extra's and at the same dependable, not having to break the bank? Maybe with the tC this will soon be a question finally answered :P

I would be surprised if excessive road noise as the tC is supposed to be well insulated (like a Lexus).
