I can tell you how to remove the switch panels on the doors as I just did it the other day. You need to pry them up at the front of the panel. The back end (the part that faces the rear of the car, in case you didn't comprende) has a large "hook" that holds the panel down. It will pop out with a kinda loud snap, don't worry, it didn't break. The driver's side has one large connector and the passenger has two. I don't know about disassembling the switches though.

BTW, use a smooth edged tool to pry with. A flat screwdriver or the like will mar the panel.

The rings around the vents next to the door are molded in to the dash - not a separate piece.

Taking off the switches is so easy, even a caveman could do it.

Use the above method, unclip the wiring harness, unscrew.

Is this the same procedure for the xA? I haven't looked to see if they're the same switch.

I had some body work done on the Mantis and I get this horrible buzzing from the driver-side window switches now from my stock radio. (GAH!) I have to put a rag or something on them when I'm driving to shut it up.

Not to threadjack, but any idea how to deaden a buzz from those switches.

It's a rattle then. I used to think it was the trim. If I press my knee against the door, it's not so bad. But if I lay my hand on the window switches, it goes away completely. So I think it's in the switch panel itself.

My driver's door was damaged by my dealer three days after I got it. They did a crap job of painting it (pic gallery link in my sig). I made them re-do it. So the door's been taken apart twice. I think the switch panel might just be loose. I was afraid I'd have to take it off from the inside. Didn't want to have to do that.

Can I take the switch panel off and put some foam or something under it to absorb the vibrations?

It may be the metal clip that screws into the switch panel that helps keep the switch panel held into the door.

get some dynomat or fatmat or anything like it ( the license plate kit, smallest amount available) it might help insulate the noise. It helped with the gauge rattle on my xB. Make sure the door panel is not loose anywhere, make sure all screws are tight, one should be in the actual inside door handle and another on the little door pull on the armrest of the door panel. Pop out the door switch and look at the clip and the hook make sure they are in place and not damaged. If all else fails pull off the door panel yourself inspect and put it back on. Use a spatula with a rubber head as a pry tool. I'm not sure what else it might be without looking at it good luck, and sorry to the original poster for the hijacked thread.

Check this link out and PM the guy who started the thread, he might not be doing what you are but he pretty much had to go through what you will have to.

He might be able to help you with some questions. Good luck with the project, and post some pic when you get done.

The ring around the shifter is held in by 4 plastic tabs. The safest way to take it out is to remove the screw in the rear cup holder (under the felt), lift the front of the console up until it pops free, and reach under and gently push the tabs to release it.
