ok, im choosing between these 2. I would like to go with JL but needed yalls opinion!

It's between the JL 10w6v2 sub either in the pro wedge box or ill make a ported box for it with the specs it needs. Im not the pro on making boxes but i guess ill go by the W x H x D and the specs on the JL website for that sub.

OR

The Alpine SBR-S122V or the 10"? I currently have this

Alpine SWS-1042D i have it hooked to a Lightning Audio 900W amp and getting around 3-400W to the sub! It hits pretty hard! That amp in the pic is pushing my comps.

I also saw this on the JL website but dont think its out yet?

If i go with the JL ill be getting the 500/1. If i go with the Alpine ill get the MRP-M650
I wanted to know what yall thought and what yall would go with?
I can get the JL sub by itself for around $300 shipped and the Alpine SBR-S122V shipped for around $270?

I wanted to stay with 1 sub just cause i dont want my whole trunk with audio! I like to listen to loud music now and then! Mostly rap, hip-hop and alternative! My music is loud about 70% of the time!

Go JL audio for subs and Alpine head unit. Power it with Phoenix Gold amp's. I only say that because JL is way overpriced on AMP's. The new Phoenix Gold Xenon amps can run at whatever OHM you want them too.

I had that a setup similar to that and it rocked in my previous car. Ive heard bad things about Alpine subs.

well i currently have the cda-9851 and ill be getting the NEW cda-9857 the alpine just dropped their 06' line of HU's! I should have it this summer?

I would go with Alpine but move up to either a type R or type X if you want more hit....and as far as the amp go with Memphis Class D mono sub amp...they are amazing....right now i have 1 type R alpine running on a 1500watt kenwood amp...and my sub makes my rear quarter panels flex a good deal so it hits very nicely and i dont have the bass boost on the amp all the way up so i have more power if i want it!

p.s.- im also going to be getting CDT EF-61 carbon fiber's pretty soon too! What type of amp do yall think would be great with those? I was thinking about the Hifonics ZXi6406 or a JL "e" series amp if i go with the JL setup?

If your concerned with SPL, the 12" alpine Type R is a good quality sub that gives nice SPL. The type x does get kinda loud, but it's mostly known for its SQ attributes.
Personally I'll be running 1 10" type-x in a .6 ft^3 sealed enclosure being fed by a JBL 1200.1 which will give it roughly 1350 RMS @ 2 ohms.
If you really want to rock your socks, any JL w7 series subwoofer would work great. Also the pioneer L7 (or is it kicker :-/)

^^ it's Kicker L7... they're loud, but take effort to make them sound good...


I suggest the JL but I'm just partial to them... I don't really like any Alpine stuff except their HU's...

Also, I'd be careful with JL's ported box specs. I built a ported box to JL's specs and it was tuned WAY to high to get any GOOD sound out of it... it was pretty loud, but sounded like poo... If you're going to build a ported box for music/everyday listening, tune it to ~30Hz..
