It seems it happens every two years. I'm really tired of this contact work.
I got a call while I was at the Cub's vs Brewers game yesterday with my fiance,
I was told "UOP no longer requires your services. We've already packed up your desk,
just stop by on Monday to pick up your stuff and drop off the cell phone and badge"

Anywho, the Oil company I was contacted out to (UOP in Des Plaines) was bought out
recently by Honeywell chemicals. I was told that I would probably be hired on to the
new regime, but it looks like my job is probably going out of the country.

If anyone knows of or hears about an IT or other computer technical position, please
drop me a PM with some info.

I'm going to be polishing up my resume this weekend and posting my resume up on
all the big job hunt sites and hitting unemployment on Monday. Lets hope something
comes up soon, or I won't be able to hit any shows this Summer at all.

Sorry to hear the bad news Raven!

I just heard Cub Foods in Bedford Park was closing its doors.
I don't know how true this is.
That would suck. I've been shopping there for years.
Alot of veteran employees will lose there jobs or be placed elsewhere.

I hope you and your girl pass this obsticle fast.
Good luck!

eric-
here's hoping something good comes your way, and soon. you might want to try and ask Shane (s1zeRo on aim) if he knows of anything. he's in the IT field as well.

i find it interesting all that the IT guys are going through. very similar experiences happened in the chemical field as well. not many know, but i was a certified lab tech - and have a degree in biochemistry. the two places i worked at (both chemical companies) where both bought out by larger conglomerants, and all lab positions were dissolved.

anyways, good luck on the job search.

(Edit) I checked the link. I'm not a programmer. I'm mostly hardware, Desktops,

Yeah, I'm hitting both Monster and Dice and trying to remember
all the ones I hit two years ago when I was laid off form HP.
And two years before that when I was laid off from Compaq.
And two years before that when I was laid off from Dominic's
Finer Foods HQ.

It's a vicious cycle. :)
