Default Few Questions about TRD CAI.

Dealership Price = $440
TRDSparks.com = $349

Obviously I'd just but it off the website. But on that site and Scion.com is says for Off-Road Use Only. WTF!?

Injen CAI and the TRD Supercharger don't say "Off-Road Use Only" but the TRD CAI isn't legal?

I don't understand that. So if I go to a State Inspection my car will fail or what?... Injen CAI is legal, and cheaper, though I wanted the TRD because of looks and OEM value.

And I'm new to getting to know cars, and how they work. If I did buy a CAI, would it really be that hard for me.. or should I pay the dealership and absurd amount of money for them to do it.

I "could" save 5k for the TRD Supercharger + Installation, but then again, I'd rather take that 5k and use it to take a HUGE chunk out of my car payments.

Thanks in advance.

TANTALIZEDMIND, this forum replaced the "naturally aspired" forum. CAI threads are here. in CA, cars can also fail an inspection because of "visual" changes. a CAI will result in a "failure" during a smog inspection regardless of whether or not there was in increase in hydrocarbons emitted with the CAI.

i'd suggest you check with your local motor vehicles dept to determine if there is a "visual change" component to your smog laws.
