New Member / Bulbs (A little help?)
Hello hello all.
This is my first post on the forums so don't be so hard on me, haha.
Anyways, I just recently acquired my 2006 tC (yay) over at Moss Bro's Scion in
Moreno Valley, which is not too far from where I reside in Lake Perris, about two
months ago. Car was purcahsed for around 19k. The color is Black Sand Pearl
and it came with the fogs, the pedestal spoiler, and the ground effects kit.
Been in love with the car ever since!
But let me get straight to the point now...
I need my headlights to be brighter.
Stock ones just don't seem to do it for me! At the moment, I can't afford HID's
or something else of that nature because of financial issues and college funds,
so for now, I was just thinking of buying new bulbs to replace my stock ones with.
Perris has some intense dark roads, and not to mention the horrible conditions
of most of the streets (pot holes, ruts, etc etc) I have to drive on to get to my house.
It's like navigating through a mind field in the pitch dark and ridiculously thick fog
the lake across the street produces.
Everyday I commute to Long Beach to finish school (I just recently moved out here)
and I see quite a number of tC's with HID-looking / white / bluish light that omit
much more than my stock ones. The majority of the owners say that they're just
bulbs, nothing more.
I talked to a few owners and most of them mentioned/suggested,
POWERVIEW: XENON Blue 9006/HB4 for about 60-70 bucks.
I think they would do... since they have that bright "HID" look I like and omit
much more light that I need when commuting. If I were to buy these, are they
just, how do you say "plug n' play"? Or would I have to buy other things like
a new wiring harness (because I just read a topic about how someone's Nokya
lights burned through)?
EDIT+
Are there any horror stories or bad experiences about these bulbs any of
you encountered? And also, some feed back on these specific types would
be greatly appreciated.
Thank's for your time!
Ryan

I have PIAA Ultra White (or super white..?)
you can easily get it from autoshop.
it was nearly 100 bucks for me
It does its job. cheaper than HIDS and its not ugly yellow.
+ i got 1 year warranty.

I am currently using HIR bulbs (step below HID) for my high (9011) and low (9012) beams. These bulbs emit nearly double th light output when compared to the factory halogen bulbs. They don't give off that blueish tint, but offer more of a bright white. I live in Montana in an area w/ minimal street lights and a lot of wildlife, so I always have to be on the lookout whenever driving at night. I noticed a HUGE difference when I switched from stock to HIR. Good luck finding lights that work best for you!
I second the HIR bulbs. Don't go for the blue tinted bulbs unless you plan on running higher wattage and upgrading your harness (which is illegal in CA, FYI). I had Nokya Arctic bulbs in my old car running 85W. Really bright, but had to take them out cuz the stock headlight housing isn't designed for that high heat output.
Search ebay for the HIR bulbs. They work great in my tC.

Sorry guys!
I'm not so very "car oriented" and isn't so familiar with the HIR term.
Can someone fill me in with more information about these types?
(i.e. what brands I should look at and description of how the light looks like)
I plan to drive down to Super Autobacs next week and purchase new bulbs.
But what I'm also looking for is, I have to admit, a bit of style added too.
Hence, the suggestion of POWERVIEW: XENON Blue 9006/HB4
But more light omitted is my priority, so I really do appreciate the feedback.
