Default So yeah what do u guys think?

so I was thinking of swapping my blitz induction box back to stock but still keeping the filter. then I want to add a greddy header, which even though its says it's available for only the xB, I'm quite sure it will fit my xA. Seeing as how its all the same chassis and what not. Anyway so Stock intake with Blitz filter, Greddy header, and either a custom axle back Buddy Club or 5zigen exhaust. Whaddya guys think? I'm also pretty sure why you guys are wondering why I just don't go custom cat back...simple...uh, I don't really want to and from what I've heard the hp difference is minimal when comparing axle back to cat back :? so whatever....opinionate!!

You will actually see a bigger horsepower gain with a cat back than you will ever see between different axle-backs. Not a big change, but definitely more than you will see between axle-backs. If you really want to see a difference you should have a custom header-back exhaust built. I know that Gabe/Stylis/Precision Muffler does this for the xB, but I am not sure about the xA.

As far as your intake, why would you want to put the stock box back together instead of the Blitz set up? Is it because you think the colder air will help? If so, sell the Blitz set up and just get yourself a drop in filter. It will perform just as well.

And the Greddy header looks nice, but I just can't see spending the money on it. At $300 it is significantly more than other brands' headers, and I don't see any potential advantage to the Greddy header. If they were more in line with say DC and Strup I would definitely say give it a shot. As of now though, I don't know of anyone who has spent the money to see how the Greddy will perform.

I guess one of the reasons I'm holding back on the cat-back is because I THINK correct me if I'm wrong, the resonators will be gone and I don't want to go around sounding like the next HonDUH. But if going custom cat-back will still give me a nice low bassy tone then I'm up for it!! I'll be honest though I don't mid a LITTLE bit of rice. I mean face it...a NA Japanese car will sound WAY different than a NA American car. Simply...I don't want my car to sound like a lawnmower running through an empty parking garage being chased by an obnoxious bumble bee .

Intake wise one of the reasons I was thinking of swapping it back to stock was because I've heard that an I/H/E setup can sometimes be REALLY loud. Afterall, along with being my fun mountain pass car. It's also my daily so I don't really want to hear my car ALL the time SOOO loud. Hehe, I guess you can say I'm a bit reserved when it comes to the sound of my car. I want my car to sound like it has a little *****, but not that much *****!

And yeah, the Greddy header is definately nice, I'm willing to spend the $$$ on it though because I'm trying to keep it as JDM. I know, I know call me a "fashion *****"
But yeah I would totally go cat-back...but I'm deathly afraid of sounding like a farting lawnmower bee. But I can be convinced

The nice thing about a custom cat-back is that you can use what ever components you want. If you want a resonator, you get a resonator. I believe Stylis uses a resonator in his xB header-back and cat-back exhausts.

If you are wanting all JDM though, you might not want to do custom. Or if you do, you might want to order a "universal" muffler from a JDM company and incorporate that into the exhaust.

Also, before you put the stock box back together, I would get the exhaust and header installed. That way you can at least hear what the car sounds like before you make the attempt to quiet it down. Also keep in mind that with the right exhaust you can get increased performance without a whole lot more sound.

That's what I was thinking....getting a JDM muffler and having the custom cat done. I'll let you know though, you've been doing a great job of making me go the custom cat-back route!! Do you or know anybody here that have experience with a resonator-less cat-back setup? Like I said before, I'm **** about sound and I don't want it so loud that it turns peoples heads like I did something bad to them

If you want something quiet, you will want the resonator. My advise would be to PM "Stylis." He is in Northern California, but he has probably done more Scion exhaust installs than anyone else in the country. He will be able to tell you what resonator, etc. to use. He might even be able to fab something up and ship it to you.

Send me a PM and we can talk more about having something done for you. I felt my ears getting warm, so I had to chime in on here. :D
