I was wondering if there is a licence plate mount on the front. Will you get a ticket if a plate isn't mounted there?

You'll probably have to drill holes into the bumper OR tie the license plate to the bottom grill. I know it looks ugly but I just got a $100 ticket for not having a front license plate.

Thank god I'm in FL where you dont need a front plate :D

there should be front plate mounts when you get your car from the dealer. but if not, im not drilling the bumper.

If you're in a state that requires it, the dealer will most likely drill the holes for you.

Here in the desert we have no front plate requirement. However, if you'll look on your front bumper, you'll see little dimples near the middle of the bumper. These are the pilot holes for the plate or plate holder.

Now you can mar the look of your car without the help of the dealer!

(I think Mexico has a good idea with the decals in the windshield I used to see down there)

If you want a LEGAL front plate and don't want to drill holes on the front, or don't want to make your own bracket, Honda sells license plate mounts that hook in under the bumper. . .

out of curiosity... if you drive a car out of florida with no front plate requirement to a state that does require it... will you recieve a ticket in that state or is it legal since your car is from florida?

No. If you live in a state that doens't require yearly inspections and you take to a state that does, do you need to get it inspected first? What about differing tint laws? Any of these would seriously discourage interstate travel.

You abide by the laws (tint, license plate, etc) of where the car is registered (or whatever plate is from). No worries on interstate travel. I see Fl plates in MD all the time.

I'm sure not putting a plate on my tC's front bumper. Maybe in the windshield.

If the DMV issues two vehicle plates for your vehicle, you must use both vehicle plates. Put one vehicle plate on the front of the vehicle and one vehicle plate on the back of the vehicle. There are no exemptions to this requirement.....
If you use one vehicle plate instead of two vehicle plates, you can receive a fine of $25 to $200 and mandatory surcharges of $50.

This thread was very helpful, I'm going to make damn sure that my dealer doesn't go drilling holes in my brand new bumper. Plastic ties through the grill is how I'm going to throw mine on to start with.

When i ordered my car i told me dealer i was getting a bracket "from japan". This was a lie and instead i went to hope depot, get a few galvinized 5 inch screw bolt, a few rubber washers, and plastic narrow hose. My setup is tight. Its in the middle of the bumper, doesnt block any of the grill(ie radiator), and sits low. I will get some pictures up soon, and can give a better description of parts if anyone wants.

Sec. 502.409. WRONG, FICTITIOUS, ALTERED, OR OBSCURED LICENSE PLATE. (a) A person commits an offense if the person attaches to or displays on a motor vehicle a number plate or registration insignia that:
(1-4 do not apply to this post)
(5) has letters, numbers, or other identification marks that because of blurring or reflective matter are not plainly visible at all times during daylight;
(6) has an attached illuminated device or sticker, decal, emblem, or other insignia that is not authorized by law and that interferes with the readability of the letters or numbers on the plate or the name of the state in which the vehicle is registered; or
(7) has a coating, covering, or protective material that:
(A) distorts angular visibility or detectability; or
(B) alters or obscures the letters or numbers on the plate, the color of the plate, or another original design feature of the plate.

Mine mount passes all laws and requires no drilling, and looks hot. In MA you gotta have two if you have the new (red letters) plate or one if you have the old (green letters) plate. I of course have the new plate.
