Default Universal Standalone?

What do you think about this?

Do you think this would be reliable? I went to their web and really got confused...is this possible to use on our cars? :?

I wouldn't trust that anywhere near a tC.

Actually that is a great system. I ordered the kit from dyiautotune and assembled it myself and am running it on my 1970 Porsche 911 to convert it to EFI. It is extremely easy to use and great to tune with. It works great for fuel tuning. I haven't used it to modify timing as I am using a stock distributor for timing on my Porsche. I might try using it when I put a turbo on my tC.

How easy it is for tuning? and how does it compare to other Standalones? If it can even be compared.

I wouldn't go for anything other than an AEM, you can check my results after I get it in and tuned

I have never had the chance to tune with any other systems so I can't really tell you how it compares. But it is different as it takes over completely for firing the injectors where most other systems piggyback the stock ECM. This one pretty much replaces the stock ECM. I don't know how it reacts to newer engines, but I would guess it would trip you CEL for sure as you aren't using the stock ECM to fire the injectors so it would think the injectors weren't there or misfunctioning. But if you go to megasquirts website they have a good forum and description that can help you figure out how it will work for a tC.

It doesn't have features for Cam Shifting and other features that a eManage Ultimate would have. But it works great for older engines like crate motors as it can take care of everything for them.

the megasquirt is a very powerful standalone just like all other standalones out there

i have it on a few of my own cars such as
98 Dodge Neon
91 2.3l Turbo Mustang

I have installed in on:
04 Hyundai Accent
93 Geo Prizm
a few DSMs and a few Hondas

If you guys would like and could get me some information i will install it on my XB and get it running good and help everyone else out

Nothing named "megasquirt" will ever be installed in my car unless it's a damned mounted water gun.

It's a great system like TcTurboScion said. I had it on a turbo 2110 VW motor contolling fuel and spark with EDIS and it was great. I could control everything. I'm not sure if it would work on a Tc if you wanted to completely replace the ECU because I don't know everything that goes through the stock ECU. But a pinout of the stock ECU would make that easy to determine. You might loose some auxilary things in the process. If you were really determined and it was a race car, just hack off the stock harness and run everything to the MS box. That's extreme though.

My bad, I meant signals in and out. What runs through the computer other than the normal stuff i.e; ABS info, Traction Control info, Cruise, that type of stuff.
