Default installing wheels

Ive got some wheels/tires already mounted coming in soon and I plan on putting them on myself. I have never really given much thought about installing a set of wheels. Seems pretty easy. Ive got the torque wrench, socket and plan on using the spare jack to lift the car. My question is should I do anything as far as lubing or cleaning, for example, the threads, or perform any other preventative maintenance while installing these wheels?

A little bit of WD40 on all the threads will help down the line. Your threads shouldn't be dirty but if they are, clean them.

Since you've got the tq wrench you really don't need to worry about applying too much torque but you still need to worry about applying torque in the wrong direction; again, shouldn't be a problem but my friend pulled off the entire lug on a 93 SC300 by torquing the wrong way. By the wrong way, I mean he was applying torque not perpendicular to the lug. I don't think you need to worry about it though since these lugs were rusted to hell.
