Default DIY Intake CEL problems...

I bought a Mass Air Flow Sensor intake piece and a filter the other day from Pepboys so I can hook up a temporary intake. I unhooked the battery, installed the intake, and then I hooked the battery back up. I start the car and it has trouble starting... but after about 30 seconds its running normal. I let the car run for about 10 minutes. Turn it off... then back on again with no problems. Take it for a test drive then the CEL turns on.

Does anyone know how long I should let the ECU "learn" that there's a new intake?

A 10-15 min idle should be plenty. What is the diameter of the MAFS section? Is it possible the MAFS was damaged?

Side question... why are you installing a "temporary" intake?

I'm not sure what the diameter of the MAFS section is... but just to guesstimate I would say a 1 cen. bigger than the stock air box part.

I'm installing just to have something for right now... I'm saving up for F/I and the piece was only $20.

And I don't think the MAFS was damaged cause I immediately transfered from the stock air box to the MAFS holder.

You could try to disconnect the battery again and then let it idle for another 15 min or so. See what it does.

What kind of a filter is it?

reset your ecu by disconnecting your battery for a min of 5 min and then let it idle for at least 10 min. You will probably throw a CEL in the process but I am trying to figure out why that is happening. Also, it is a Power Adder filter, made by Spectre racing, am I correct?

I think that the tubing you are using is a 3 in tube, and that is way to big to work correctly with our MAF. It is only used to 2.25 , soyou might look into a smaller piping or a piggyback eco like the emanage, to compensate.
