View Full Version : Any luck with insurance yet
cripplerScion 06-21-2004, 07:45 PM I am having trouble finding insurance companies that have the TC listed on their website. The only one I found to have it on there site was AllState, which is who I am through now. They quoted me $820 for 6 months. That is a little higher than I want so I want to check around but can't find another company who has included the TC on their website.
Anyone else have any luck?
birdy 06-21-2004, 08:05 PM 820 for 6 months is Cheap
ASUgradinWA 06-21-2004, 08:19 PM waiting for a call back from my agent
cripplerScion 06-21-2004, 08:45 PM 820 for 6 months is Cheap
I will admit it isn't bad, but its $200 per 6 months more than I am paying now.
I'll take it if I have to, I just want to get it down to where I am now per month
birdy 06-21-2004, 09:24 PM i pay 830 every 6 months and my insurance company said it would vary by $20 if i get the scion
woohoo
omg, that is insanely cheap... damn you non-NY/NJ living ppl!
I got quoted from GEICO for 1179 for six months... used to pay ~1500 for six months for my IS... and that's with a SPOTLESS record, multi-car discount, AND being over 25!
UnFocused 06-21-2004, 10:03 PM Well my insurance doesnt have an xB listed- so forget about a tC

either geico or AAA that rated the IS300 the most expensive vehicle to insure. thats probably why your insurance was so much..
man, if i was quoted for 820 for 6 months, i would take it with both hands.. im still trying to get quotes from different companies. the best so far is 1350 for 6 months.
supernoman 06-21-2004, 11:03 PM I'm with AAA for my IS and I'm paying 1400 a year. I'm in socal, above 25, spotless record.
I can't imagine paying more for a tC.
cripplerScion 06-21-2004, 11:05 PM I just can't believe a Scion TC through Allstate at 28 yo with no accidents and no tickets is more money than I was paying when I was 21 and bought a brand new Mustang
I checked and its $250 more for the Tc than my current mustang
Hopefully I can find a cheaper company, I would like to see if State Farm would be cheaper since I could get a discount since I have my home owners insurance through them...so if anyone has had any luck with state farm...let me know
05_Flint_tC 06-21-2004, 11:05 PM i was quoted 2080 with allstate. :(
cripplerScion 06-21-2004, 11:12 PM i was quoted 2080 with allstate. :(
Ouch, I guess my complaining about 820 seems petty
birdy 06-21-2004, 11:13 PM hey your in dallas too
wierd
yu should try esurance.com
jlaznlover 06-21-2004, 11:19 PM ^^^ esurance.com was the one that quoted me the 1350... i hope i find cheaper company
Fly_By_Nite 06-21-2004, 11:51 PM 1025$ for 6 months with 250 deductible and full glass. I'm 28 with 6 points. This was my quote through my progressive insurance. Lot less than the 1400$ I was paying for my 1995 4-runner loan insurance. deeBO
erc21 06-25-2004, 05:54 AM I'm 21, and looking at about 1100 for 6 months, and that's with a couple of accidents (over 4 years ago though) and 1 ticket currently on my record, so I'm happy overall, not a great deal, but could be worse. And that was an estimate, so I had them compare it to a Celica, and it's still decent. I just hope that it doesn't go up when I actually get the car, then I'd barely be able to afford it, umph! But seriously, 820 seems pretty decent to me!
technetium 06-25-2004, 04:05 PM Since my grandma is cosigning we're putting the insurance under her name. Only checked one place but it came to 300/6 months. WAY better than putting it in my name  .
hjelmn 06-25-2004, 08:26 PM $666 (i kid you not on that price) every 6 months for me (with a ticket or two on my record) on my parent's policy (being under 25 sucks ___).
doubledown 06-25-2004, 08:59 PM My AAA agent quoted me $1,800/year. This is for a 25 year old also.
It would be $1,500/year if I keep my car and have multiple car discount....but then my other car would be $600/year.
MPLexus301 06-25-2004, 09:01 PM I wonder how much it would be for a 17yr old male...under mommies name :D , with me as a driver  I haven't ever gotten a ticket or anything, so my record is clean thus far. Seriously though, is there going to be any difference in surance rates between the ages of 17 and 25?
UnFocused 06-26-2004, 12:34 AM Hell ya thier is a HUGE difference!!... Once you hit 21, it goes down, then @ 25 it will drop like 1/3!!
cripplerScion 06-26-2004, 02:37 AM Hell ya thier is a HUGE difference!!... Once you hit 21, it goes down, then @ 25 it will drop like 1/3!!
Not always, mine only dropped $5 when I turned 25. A friend of mine told me it will drop when I am 25 but only if I was married...otherwise its 30, 2 more years. Don't hold me to that because I am not sure if he is right or not.

I just checked Allstate online and I guess my friend was right, according to the website my insurance dropped almost $300 ($50 per month) by entering that I was 30 instead of 28
Kristen 06-26-2004, 04:40 PM I got the same exact quote from state farm
ScionTCaroline 06-29-2004, 05:28 PM I just got a quote from Citizens for 925/6 months.
Sucks b/c my other one was cheaper, but this is the best rate I've found.
23
Female
No accidents
No tickets

Yep, I should try them...glad to see you are in Michigan and getting quotes.
My AAA quote is above. About $1800/year for a 25y/o male. I want to shop around...not sure why insurance on this car seems high.
Let me know what other rates you get....if you shop around more.
ScionTCaroline 06-29-2004, 06:17 PM No problem. Vice Versa, let me know too :D
I got a discount for being under my step-dads insurance with Citizens, not sure how much of one though.
And yes, insurance does seem high on it. Odd. Probably the jealous "Big 3 "somehow hiking up the rates!
Have you ordered yours yet?
I just orderd mine yesterday from Suburban Scion and he already had the same one coming in next week, so I just "took" that one. Black Pearl, manual. YAY!
doubledown 06-29-2004, 06:26 PM Yep, I ordered mine last week...not sure when it'll come in though. Ordered from McInerney Toyota in Mt. Clemens (since it's 5mins from my house).
I ordered a Flint Mica Automatic (the fiance may need to drive it...and I never really got into manuals that much)
I was going to get black, but I've always had black cars, so I got the Flint....they had a Flint manual in stock, so I got to see it in person...I liked the color.
I know my Insurance will drop when I get married since I can finally put my fiance on my insurance and have a multiple car/multiple policy (car/house) discount.
ScionTCaroline 06-29-2004, 07:25 PM I was debating between, white, black and the flint mica. I test drove an automatic Flint Mica...very pretty color!
XBOXED 06-29-2004, 07:46 PM I just got quoted 1728 every six months (16 yrs) and with the rest of my family i will be like 2368
fletch259 06-29-2004, 08:24 PM I checked with State Farm here in Tulsa, OK and they didn't even list the tC in the computer yet. She gave me an estimate of $415 for 6 months based on the MSRP of the car. I asked her when they will know the exact rates and she had no idea, she said State Farm updates the database "randomly" with new 05 cars that are coming out. So I guess I can't get a tC till State Farm gets off their butts and actually has a policy for this car!!!
MrSparkle 06-29-2004, 09:47 PM What the heck I currently pay less than $800 a year for full coverage on a 2004 xb and 2004 Corolla LE. :D I checked with my insurance company and they dont have prices for the TC yet. . I also checked what it would be for 6 months with Allstate and they wanted $1340 for 6 months with my current cars. If I changed it from my XB to a TC they wanted $1400. :x Whats up with that. I think I will continue with my insurance company, it's Mercury Insurance btw.
hiperchik 06-29-2004, 09:53 PM Try calling the insurance companies rathern than visiting their websites... I have a xB and on 21st Century Insurance it's under Toyota-Scion-xB. Give them a call... they're pretty cheap... and good service so far... 1-800-211-SAVE. Also get a VIN if possible... it doesn't have to be from your car... any from a tC will do... it will help them get an idea...
$550 for 6 months for full coverage on the following vehicles and two drivers with a $500 deductible.
2003 Civic EX Coupe
2005 Scion TC
The $550 covers both me and my wife and both cars. We are 27 and 24.
Progressive
Enkidu 07-01-2004, 02:11 AM just got a quote from State Farm for the following:
all deductibles $250
full glass
uninsured motorist
I'm turning 24, 5 year clean record, and married.
for $106 a month. or $100 deductible for $114 a month.
That is considering my wife has a Jetta VR6 and we got renter's insurance with State Farm. We get Multi car discount and Multi line discount with that. Next year it should drop more, since I'll turn 25.
Currently I'm paying 67.00 a month on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 1000 deductible coz i owned it for 4 years, and guess what? My car got pounded by baseball hail June 10th so im getting a 17k check being that i could only trade my pos in for about 11-12. So i'm financing the tC and an R1 with that check ^_^
rigs13 07-01-2004, 06:28 AM 660 :D every six months if you live in utah cheak out american family ins. good people!! one of the girls there has an xb so there scion friendly!!
Alycia_tC 07-01-2004, 09:14 PM i think i am paying the most 2100 or so 20 y/o step 12....in MA i think thats why my'n is so high...but i got lojack on my car so 20% discount...
Kickboy 07-01-2004, 10:53 PM State Farm:
0 deduct comp, 250 deduct collison , etc $382 6/mo based on the price of the car.

Nick_AGP 07-01-2004, 11:19 PM I was quoted $820 for 6 months from farmers for 23 year old male with a clean record.
blitzcat 07-02-2004, 02:27 AM I got a single car policy from State Farm for 510 for 6 months. Clean Record, over 25. I inherited my discounts from my parents policy since they have been customers for ever, but its totally seperate from theirs.
BoomBox757 07-02-2004, 02:32 AM yall are all lucky, they really hate on us 16 year olds. I pay 5000+ a year
doubledown 07-02-2004, 12:06 PM Well, I think I'm going to call around again today.
AAA is going to charge me $1,800/year. Which is about average for a 24 year old I guess.
Right now, my 95 V6 Camaro just jumped up to that price (I was on a multiple group policy when I lived with my brother, so it was cheaper, but when I bought my house and my it expired, it jumped up to this)
So, if anyone in Michigan knows any good insurance companies to call, give me a good recommendation. I have my homeowners through AAA also, so I would be willing to switch both if the rates were right.
Outkast627 07-02-2004, 12:57 PM
doubledown 07-02-2004, 02:00 PM Well, jsut called another insurance company. State Farm (Michigan). They did not have the car in the system, so they could only give me a ballpark....what's up with that? The car is on the road...how are people supposed to get in insured.
Anyways, she quoted me about $679/6 months for 25 year old (that's with a 10% discount if I do my house through them)
I may keep looking....
***UPDATE***
Just physically called ALL-STATE. They quoted me 25y/o $854/6month OR it would be $724/6 months if I switch my homeowners to them.
Alprep 07-02-2004, 07:57 PM Just got off the phone w/ AAA. 35 yr old male w/ 1 speeding 100/300/300 w/ $500 ded in NorCal was qouted $996/yr. Not too bad considering I was paying a couple hundred more for a 98 Tacoma w/ lower coverage an $1K ded thru Farmers. I'll be switching both my vehicles to AAA.
Saint_Alfonzo 07-04-2004, 08:29 AM yall are all lucky, they really hate on us 16 year olds. I pay 5000+ a year
I couldn't imagine paying that much, I feel sorry for you man. Have you had multiple accidents or something?
TC_Sweetie 07-04-2004, 03:31 PM uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ............... i'm 22 years old and paying $504.00 every 6 monthes from nationwide. i got my tc yesterday and talked to them friday.. the catch is, im insured for an xb but hey im gonna hurry up and pay the $504.00 because im sure next billing time they'll have the tc's listed.
p.s no tickets or accidents on my record and good long time standing w/ the company and have a multitude of discounts.
Tucker2930 07-04-2004, 03:43 PM 2005 XB...................300.00 for 12 months from Progressive. Full coverage and maxed out on limits. :D
scion_jC 07-04-2004, 04:03 PM id like to say for those who dont live in nj, i hate you all !! hehe j..k. .. nj is crazy auto insurance.. i just put down a deposit for my tC so im waiting til the next shipment arrives.. currently im still under my mothers insurance .. but im buying the car under her name... her insurance is prudential and they didnt have tC on their system so they put it under the xB and it was 2300 for 6 months !!! about the same for mazda3 (my other choice) .. im 20 male n single.. this sucks a$$ .. but when i called i did tell them a costly mistake so hopefully when i call back ill make sure to correct or go to another comapny all together.. anyone have suggestions ?
Nitto 07-04-2004, 06:06 PM I just got quoted 1728 every six months (16 yrs) and with the rest of my family i will be like 2368
same as me, except it was like 1823 every 6. Forget that...
LuvMytC1 07-04-2004, 07:00 PM I pay $137 a month through State Farm. 24yo, single female, clean record, multi-car discount.
doubledown 07-06-2004, 01:35 PM Anyone else know of any more websites that have the tC up to insure....I know All-State does, but they were a little high, looking to see if any have updated their databases yet.
I should get my tC by the end of the month, so I have some time. I'm currently with AAA in Michigan, but they have been ____ing me off lately.
Thanks
SonomaPhil 07-06-2004, 03:05 PM Male, married, 39 years old, 3 cars (05 TC, 03 Rav4, 73 VW Bug) American Express through Costco insurance...$248 for 6 months for the TC by itself. $591 for all cars for 6 months. Never have filed a claim against an insurance company, never an accident I caused. I keep my deductibles high, insurance is a scam.
I was quoted $820 for 6 months from farmers for 23 year old male with a clean record.
Yah, but that was only because he wasn't actually BORN a male...
I'm thinking that insurance agencies will view the tC in the same class as the Celica GT, 2 door Civic, and Cavalier. So expect to pay a little more due to the "16 year old kid racing his Civic into a pole driving up everyone else's insurance" factor.
