well as much as everyone predicted it to suck i think it was one of the best in the series. the beginning was a bit lame with all the high school jocks :tap: but sean(Lucas Black) had some good disses on the beefcake. his monte carlo totally owned that viper when he went off roading in the construction  . i wish they would of added subtitles to what the teacher was saying to sean:blah: when he came to class the first day. and WOW was that some unique VW twinkie was driving with the hulk theme :lalala: . i wonder if the japanese underground of drifting really has that many girls involved cause there was a damn lot of them in that garage. anyways at least we werent plagued with cars that have 16 gears  and they had the techniques of drifting down. i liked the cameo apearance of Keiichi Tsuchiya  as the fisherman who was mimicing sean about him learning how to drift in his evo(why they used another evo i dunno). the chase scene between sean, dk and han was spectacular as they weaved through traffic in downtown tokyo and how the crowd split PERFECTLY :eyebrow: to form an idealistic left hand turn. now this is my only complain about the movie... WHY DID THEY PUT A SR20DET MOTOR IN A MUSTANG?!?!?:loser: not only that, they gave the pony a 4" exhaust.... yeah, deff. screwed up there F&F crew(i did like the volk wheels tho). but the touge scene between sean and dk was good as they brushed the edges of the mountain. of course the bad guy looses and sean stays in tokyo and becomes the new "drift king". now whats really got me on edge is the cameo in the end from vin diesel as dominic in his 70's roadrunner and wondering IS THERE GONNA BE A F&F 4?!??:nails: all in all i gave the movie a thumbs up id go see it again for the fact the theater was so packed and i was forced to sit up front with my girlfriend and didnt get a good view. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS! :P

My only gripe about the film isn't the film itself, but the psychological factor it plays on kids after watching it. They all don't realize it's just a movie too. For example, I had a Scion meet at the mall for the movie, afterwards these idiots drive up to us and start to show off trying to drift. They coulda seriously injured someone doing it in a lot.
Then when security comes by, they scram while driving 70 mph on a 25 mph zone in the mall. On top of that they don't realize the 5-0 are waiting by the entrance of the mall to catch them. On my way home there had to be 15 pull overs w/ about 30 or so cops all over the place.

Well yah, I saw it too today, but mostly cause I haven't seen Xmen either and I am sure not going to pay $10 for a single movie. The storyline was terrible as expected. It was really stupid after Han died...eh whatever. I didn't go in there for the storyline. But yah, the chase scene through the traffic was pretty cool. And vin diesel in the end had most of the ppl in the audience clapping. Now to go see Nacho Libre cause I'm a movie whore.

It was an RB26DET. Sorry, had to point it out. I thought the movie wasn't too bad. It was a lot better than the second one. I'm just waiting for the law suits from the authors of initial D, unless there were in on the whole thing. Sorry, I dont follow it as hardcore as some people. And was it a roadrunner or a charger again in the end? Another funny thing involving hte 5-0 and parking lots, there was this beat old toyota truck leaving and he turned a little quick and peeled some tire and the cop sitting in the parking lot plain as day followed him out. I wonder what that ticket looks like. Overall, the movie wasn't that bad and my $8.50 wasn't a total waste.

 Damn! You nailed the Initial D thing in the head. I was bout to say that too. The movie jacked a lot of scenes right out of Initial D. I'm surprised Jay Chou or Edison didn't make an appearance. Or at least provided the sdtk, though Edison is an awful singer.

i honestly have no idea what motor it was. the official F&F site says an RB26DET but i thought it was an SR20DET cause thats the motor that comes with S15s. also it was a roadrunner as stated on wikipedia but in the first F&F dominic drove a charger hmmm... :ponder:

I didn't expect to be going to see it at all, because I hated the first one so much that I didn't bother watching the second one (not even when it was on TNT earlier this week). But I was surprised. The way it was shot and the fx made up for the horrible storyline.
Plus, I will never argue with anything featuring Sung Kang, Lucas Black AND Sonny Chiba.

Its not that big of a deal but, yes the Silvia's came from the factory with the SR20DET. But that car was clearly not stock and Han had the money for a swap. LOL. The funny thing about that is in the first race, if my ears heard correctly, the car didn't sound like it was running the RB but had a more SR sound to it. I'm not gonna pay $8 to see it again to find out. But there are tons of real minor things that I picked up on, just like in the first one. lol

considering the first two movies i thought it was very well done. I was surprised to see the acting was not bad.. and like someone said earlier Sung Kang did a very good job with his part. All in all i gave it a thumbs up and will def own the dvd.
As far as the pickup goes, im glad to see they went after him. That means the cops are not discriminating against only "ricers" like it seems they always do. They have to pull everyone who shows exhibition of speed and im glad they are doing that

I thought the movie was decent, the cars and racing was great. Although people thought the movie was going to suck b/c bow wow was in there, his role wasnt big enough to ruin anything and he did a respectable job for the character he was portaying. Overall, i'd recommend to go see it for the racing scenes.

RB26DETT to be exact. :P It was alright but damnnnnnnnnn those japanese chicks were cute. The drifting was pretty retarded and the main character was kind of goofy. Surprisingly, lil bow wow wasn't so bad except for the part where he pretends to know what hes talking about with a forged pistons and sh*t like that. A lot of those girls were not Japanese at all. they are the usual suspects in the HIN world. Mostly philipino and Korean. just like the guys with the 350Z's in the movie. Oh well, I enjoyed the overall movie and the cameos by a lot of different people made for a fun people spotting time. Like Toshi Hayama of 360 video fame and VP of Apexusa or something along those lines.
Now why put a RB motor in a Mustang. Remember they are in Japan and I'm sure a Ford 351 isn't easy to come by. So you use whats available to you. i figured there was a RB in the S-15 the character used by the way it sounded during the 1st drift race.
So lets see, there was the RSR S2000, Rockstar S-13, What's up with the broom on top of Twinks car?, Numerous xB's, Falken RX-7, Signal S-13 and other D1 cars too. I'll have to get the DVD now to spot everyone else. But I hated how the screen would blur at my theater during the panning shots i the garages and such. that sucked. Oh yeah, was that Jay Laub's yellow NSX or the real deal Veialside one? I suspect the eal one since it had Veilside rims on it. Jay uses Volks. But who knows for the movie.

the purple broom ontop of twinkies car i think was suppose to be the hair of his hulk theme he had going. as far as finding an american motor for the mustang yeah realistically that would of been hard to come by, but how did dominic get his 70s roadrunner 426 in japan? the thing that just really drew back the mustang was the exhaust, very importish.

most of the women in the movie werent japanese like you said. Getting japanese extras for the film was hard for the most part so when they olaced the extras in the scene, the japanese ones were placed close to the front first and then everyone else further back that wouldnt be noticed as much. A lot of the sound was re dubbed as the stunts w/ the mustang were done w/ the mustangs that still had american motors. As you know most of the cars used in the filming had replicas and one main showcase car that was in pristine condition. Only one mustang had that swap as it's too time consuming too do it to all 6 of them. Toshi is the techincal coordinator for the movie which i am glad he did cause he kept the movie grounded as much as it could be and still entertaining during the driving sequences. and no that wasnt jay laub's nsx that was a real veilside car. veilside had abig part in paid product placement for the movie obviously, then there was apr, toyo tires and a bunch of other companies.

okay, that is the one detail that sets the real car away from the Jays. But there are a lot of muscle cars in Japan, so I didn't see that as a wacky detail. I've seen everything from 64 Impala lowriders too the very rare Hemi 'Cuda convertible. Vins car was tight. Too bad Veilsdie doesn't make more money off these movies. That's hardcore advertising.

yep product placement. it was very obvious on the set of the movie of what products are where. vw also has a contract w/ universal pictures to have vw's show up in just about any movie universal ever does car related or not. yeah i know theres a big following in japan for muscle cars and low riders, my best friends uncle use to import lowriders to japan. It's a big market for that kinda stuff. yeah the ride vin was driving was dope. well to me jay doesnt really build any og cars anymore he just copies catalog cars which to me isnt that exciting. building a car should be a reflection of you know what i mean? like your car for instance jim, its HOT. sure its over the counter parts in japan but the combo of it says jim all over it.

Did anyone else notice in the first scene that the Viper seemed to be having trouble pulling away from the pick-up full of people with video cameras. Yeah, I know it's a movie, but the still bothered me.
I will have to say, out of the 10 or so Scions in the parking lot after the movie, I didn't see anyone try anything stupid. As for the Honda owners...well, many of them made complete asses of themselves. The PoPo had a Civic or a Neon pulled over about every 200/300 yards on one main stretch after it was over. I drove around for a while just to see who was being stupid.

I thought it was good. I was impressed. If you've seen the 1 and 2 you will see that there's a little love story in those too. I think its obvious as to why they put the Nissan engine in the stang, there wasn't another car for him to use and all he had was the mustang body and the nissan engine so what else could he do? So I don't see what all the hub bub is about putting a Nissan engine in the stang. I loved the drifting scenes. BTW what's DK's girlfriend's real name cuz she's hot! :P I didn't see cops anywhere after the movie. Although I did see 3 240SXs and a Camaro (not sure as to what year) out front of the theater, most likely to advertise for the movie. DK's Z was real nice too!

The hottest girls in the movie were the ones in the blue car that "Han" drifted around to show Cornfed when and why he (Han) would actually drift his car. For "somethin important" - hot girls' phone numbers!
They should have given "Han" a Latino friend named "Chewie". At least then we would have had a reason why Vin Diesel shows up at the end. OR maybe "Chewie" was Vin's nickname when he was hanging with Han.

I wish they said more about what some of the cars were and what kind of mods were done to them. The first movie had a lot in it about parts and modifications and stuff.
I would have been more interested in seeing some builds or drivers bragging about how much HP their ride makes. There was little mention about how any of these guy got these cars or modded them or how they became drifters.
I have seen this storyline in about a thousand different movies. They could have gone for some more originality and less product placement.
Was the main character the kid from Sling Blade? Sure looked like it to me...they should have thrown in a "I like the way you talk" or "I like them French fried 'taters."
Tabasco, Pepsi, Dodge, Nextel, TNT, Budweiser and Tampax present:

I wasn't expecting too much of this movie but I was pleasantly surprised. It was very good - tons of chase and race scenes and awesome cars - and the story wasn't too much of a cheese fest. I liked it a lot and would recommend it to anyone.

The MOST nerver crenching part was when he slammed into the other imports that were sitting on the ends of the turns. That was nail biting.
