Default ..Force, great Force...

I installed an $8 tip over the stock tip with a wormgear clamp.

I have read that you need to pull out the tabs on the stock tip and wrench it off once the taps are no longer locking it to the pipe.

I hear it's a warm bisket (biscuit). Meaning it is hard to remove.
One reason I decided to just install over that stock set up.

Bend those tabs and wiggle and pry. It comes off. Its not too bad. I installed an oval tip on mine. No need to drop the exhaust!

so that wierd dip (pointing down) in the exhaust is actually a tip? does that mean that any exhaust tip will fit after the stock tip is removed? I want a tip to fill out the bumper since I dont need anymore exhaust noise that the xB already has.

Heres mine:

Pep Boys around $28.

I would imagine that _most_ tips would fit, some might look better/fit better to you. As stated above by xBHAWK, you can install some tips over the stocker.

Have you deadened the cargo area and rear hatch? Even if not for sound system purposes, it makes a world of difference in overall cabin noise levels.

^^Just uses three bolts and goes right on with a wrench.

Not a hose clamp/wormgear type, if you can imagine a tripod w/3 bolts. I did remove the stocker. Its been on for a while and it stays put.

Default ...Bolts come loose with vibration....

I lost my first tip because I used the three provided bolts. Vibrations will cause these bolts to loosen and you may never see your tip again, have you seen my first tip?
I went with the worm gear clamp so that I could keep my big crome oval tip.
Water, (condensation) drains out the bottom bolt hole instead of dribbling out the exhaust tip.
Cut 4 slits in the pipe about 3/4inch from the inside end and put a wormgear clamp arount two of them.

No need to lower the exhaust. It does help to raise the car though. Sometimes some gentle tapping with a plastic hammer helps remove the stock tip.

Check with your Toyota dealer, they have a nice looking replacement exhaust tip that will fill out the bumper but not increase the noise. Looks a lot better, one of those little details you can do to make your box look better.
