My tC is less then 2 weeks old and I live in the mid-Atlantic and we've been nailed with rain the last week and today I noticed what appears to be watermarks all over my car and not the kind like you just washed your car - these don't wipe off!! Anyone had this problem? I had my car washed and they applied RainX coating, so I thought that might be the culprit, but manager says they've been using for a year and never had a complaint or problem. They said it looks to be under the clear coat of the paint. Thinking this might be a dealer issue!!!

The FM definitely shows water spots and such easier than some of the others... it may come off in a couple washes though. I doubt you'd have anything permanent there unless something other than water got on it. I doubt rainx would hurt it, but possibly other chemicals?

Try a good detailing spray or wax first before going to the dealer. Some water spots won't go away with just washing alone.

Clay bars are great for removing stuff like that.

Hey i actually work at a car wash, and from experience the rain-x if not wiped completely all over the car while the car is still wet, can leave what looks like watermarks. What could help remove it is just some ordinary window cleaner and a microfiber towel and just buff out the areas. If that fails just go back to a car wash that have detailers and ask them about it they have the answer for everything about paint. But the answer theyll proabably give you is to just wash your car good, polish it and then wax. This will help keep those spots off your car a month or more. I wax my car every month to keep the paint perfect so dont forgot to do so.

Hard water can leave bad stains on paint!...Then just use Mothers Detail Spray Wax w/ a microfiber towel & some elbow grease...that helps out A LOT!!!

I have this same problem. I got my car in December 2004 when it rained constantly for 2 months straight. Even when I wash and wax it doesn't get it off. I'ved tried cleaners wax and mcguires tech wax. I've also tried several glass polishs for the glass but it seems like the water marks have etched on that too. I'm hoping that a full body detail will get it out. Until then...

yeah that rain really sucked ___, i was in california for 10 days with straight sunshine, then come home to 5 days of torrential downpoors. every time i come back from cali it's raining here. east coast sucks for weather. my plane got in ____in 5 hours late. kareem adbul-jabbar was like 5 rows up from me on the plane though so that was pretty cool, i felt safer cause people like him dont die in plane crashes.
