my ccar ticks at idle is that normal. im used to v6 and v8's so ticking is usally a bad thing but mabey its normal for my car?

 

It would depend on where the tick is coming from.

 

coming form the left side of the engine bay it mabey ticks 2-3 times a second

 

It could be just the injectors ticking. They do that sometimes. On some of the older Toyotas they used a vibration dampner type seal on the injectors ot make it less noticeable.

 

there shouldn't be a noticable ticking sound unless your listening for it with the hood up and ear right up against the motor.. I would bring it over to a reputable toyota tech to have them give you an opinion.

I've found my xA to have a considerably loud ticking as well. Closer inspection shows it to be really loud injectors, which, as others on this forum have observed is apparently normal for our engines. Also, the fact that we have a timing chain instead of a timing belt also contributes significantly to the valvetrain noise we hear. One of the members mentioned that his friend thought he had a diesel engine!

All in all, I would venture a guess that your engine is acting normally.

soooooo thats it right? our engines are like that normally? what about when you rev it up? at idle i hear the ticking but if i rev it up reeaaalll slow the ticking is still there? Someone told me it might be my valves needing readjusment

 

idk ill cheack my car has only 2295 milles on it so ill give it a go tonight
