I'd ask around your area or call some local shops. See what they say. LeroyJMC 06-28-2006, 05:06 PM I was given a price of like $203 to install springs on my xA. I was more than happy to give that..........to Sears for a spring compressor, in/lb torque wrench, 18 inch 1/2 drive breaker bar, and four t-shirts. Oh, and had about $20 left over. theblue 06-28-2006, 05:33 PM The dealer quoted me for spring installs at $535. I kid you not. LeroyJMC 06-28-2006, 05:37 PM First and foremost....a little off topic to theblue...lovin the pee sprinkler. Now back to the topic....HOLY CRAP, $535. They obviously knew you were having a problem with the flux capacitor and needed to change it out at the same time. theblue 06-28-2006, 05:44 PM haha thanks. I dont know where the dealers get their prices from.. Neutex22 06-28-2006, 05:47 PM Dealerships will charge you book time to do the job. The book says 1.5 hours per strut assembly. That is 6 hours book time. Say their labor rate is $70.00 per hour, that would be $420.00 in labor plus the alignment. It would definately depend on their labor rate. It takes a good skilled technician about 2 true hours with a lift to do this job and about 3 on the ground with a jack and primative tools. It really is not too difficult to do yourself. Just make sure you have a good spring compressor, and take your time. ricktoyota73 06-28-2006, 06:10 PM I checked my place....$550 plus maybe another $50 for an alignment. I know it's high, but these guys are Toyota/Scion factory trained techs. Just keep in mind...you get what you pay for. kyle1745 06-28-2006, 09:06 PM I was quoted $400 at a local place to install coilovers. I did it myself with a friend but it took all day... The rears were a pain. nodsetse 06-28-2006, 10:38 PM Had my TRD springs installed at Kearny Mesa Scion in San Diego, which charges $200 for the work, regardless of the time it takes them to do it. Price should be the same for springs & struts, as it's slightly less work work (one less step, as they don't have to remove stock springs from the stock struts). Even though I own a spring compressor and have done thw work on other vehicles, I thought the $200 was a fair price. Any place (dealer or not) charging more than $200 is a ripoff, imo. RollTide 06-28-2006, 11:52 PM Call Carboy. They did my coilovers for 180 total. About 6 months ago, believe it was on 1/18/06, so fairly recent. dookie1427 07-01-2006, 02:53 AM ok every one i went to the dealer to get prices on trd parts and installation. this is what i got priced in total....1132.85 trd springs & shocks~$811.00 labor~$165.00 tax~$66.90 alignment~$89.95 these prices are from a dealer in houston. Somnambulated 07-03-2006, 02:25 AM It cost me $800.00 parts + install for TRD springs and shocks at Power Toyota Irvine. KJ_Scion 07-03-2006, 03:24 AM Dealer was going to charge me $600 for TRD spring installation alone. Took it to a local tuner shop and got my TRD Lowerng Springs, Rear Sway Bar, and Injen Intake installed for $250 together. dookie1427 07-03-2006, 03:31 AM ive decided that i was going to do it on my own. i bought a set of tein s-tech lowering springs for 168 and some change. now im lookin on gettin a set of koni for sbout 570. all for under 800 and no charge on install chukde 07-03-2006, 11:50 PM you guys know of a place in the tristate area that will install my springs for cheap? Yanki01 07-04-2006, 12:20 AM NEVER EVER go to the dealer to get anything besides the FREE oil changes and warranty problems! I was quoted $500 for springs install, I went to a local shop and got it for $100 installed! then went to break check to get a lifetime allignment for $80. so $180 for install and allignment. Awsome price! Jimmy 07-11-2006, 06:26 AM NEVER EVER go to the dealer to get anything besides the FREE oil changes and warranty problems! Im getting a price quote of a total of $315 + alignment to install my TRD springs. now thats a good deal from a dealer. The other local shops are asking over $300 to install near my place. Should I take this offer, or should I look around more? L4rry_B1rd 07-14-2006, 08:46 PM I got mine done at a Toyo Dealer for $121!!!!!!!! theblue 07-15-2006, 05:11 AM From my dealer at Longo Scion in El Monte, CA. Should I take this offer, or should I look around more? If your local dealers are giving you a $300 install price for springs only, you're probably not looking hard enough. You should be paying less than $175 easy for spring installs. I say pass on this. Although it is good for a dealer price, its still pretty bad. FaulknerScion 07-15-2006, 05:28 AM something like $130 is a ok price... dealer will ask like 400 ish.. i think.. unless you know the techs.. ;) hippo 07-20-2006, 10:30 PM After I called Longo Scion of El mONte again there was another service guy who said it was over $500. I guess the first guy I called before at Longo was on crack saying it was $315. Wat an idiot. The second person I called who quoted $500 was telling the truth because he put me on hold to check the price, not like the other guy I called. So now I called some local shops and found a quote of $140. The shop is 8 miles away from my home. When speaking to him on the phone this guy was a jerk, I couldnt trust him with my car. He spoke to me rude saying that "who else does it for cheap, I'm just gonna put the springs in and if there's a problem its not my fault". and he's the guy who's going to install them. So now I found the one shop 1 mile from my house for $180. I can trust them with my car. Also I can ride my bike home. So Longo and that jerk and the other local shops who quoted above $200 can eat my crap and I go with this shop. I also found tire shop for an alignment that is around $20. chukde 07-21-2006, 03:22 AM Seriously why do dealers have no clue about how much it would cost to install a SCION promoted accessory like springs? So my salesman says they will install it for free... just gotta pay the $199 for the springs. He said he talked to parts and service and they said that they get the prep guys to do it. I'm not sure i want a guy that washes new cars to install my springs... but if its a toyota install and its free... I guess I shouldn't complain. The springs are taking forever to come in... and when they come in is when I will really find out the price. I'll hit you guys up with what happens. LeroyJMC 07-23-2006, 03:32 PM Straight up, if they try to charge you more for the install after stating that it would be free with a spring purchase, then tell them that you will not pay for the install and go elsewhere. |
