I have always had automatics. I am thinking about a manual tc, i have one im buying in manual, but im worried about me messing up my tranny or clutch. How hard is it to drive manual anyway?

 

Safest way...Learn how to drive stick on a beater car (friends POS stick like I did) and then buy your tC.

 

Noone i know has a beater manual car.

 

I want a manual badly, its just stupid to have a custom show car and a turbo'ed car (future) in automatic (this is my own opinion, please dont go off topic.) Should i just go auto?:-/

 

i learned off my friend's old civic. lol ~ its not that hard to learn. i caught on pretty quick and this is my first stick car

 

If i start on a new clutch, learning, slowly, am i going to fudge up my car?

 

if anything youre jsut going to wear out your clutch faster and have to replace it sooner. look for a beater in your neighborhood selling for under 1.5k. then learn then sell it and then get your tc!

 

just think of all the complete retards out on the street driving manual cars every single day and getting along just fine. not to mention, I do believe the tC to be one of the easiest sticks I've ever driven. it won't take you more than a week to get the hang of it, just take it easy at first. alot of people drive these things alot harder than you will be at first, too. so unless you're like sub-retarded, you don't have a thing to worry about.

I am such a newbie with the whole extra pedal business. Any tips? Also how do you drive very slowly, as in up a quite driveway with a loud exhaust, just barely touching the gas pedal as i have a 3/4 mile driveway lol

 

i learned on my bros car just get the steps in your head and you'll be fine, the car is made to take a little beating, stalling is normal, just take your time shifting
well heres a tip that my friend taught me when i was starting out,
clutch in first gear, dont step on the gas, slowly let go of the clutch and the car should move slowly, this should also help you find the catch point, after 1st gear shifting to other gears should be easier

just go to some back roads where there ant no one around and play around try every thing uphill downhill stop and goes that is what i did when i practiced on my parents geo metro lol

If you live anywhere near Laguna Beach CA....find Third street. It's real steep (How steep is it) It's so steep it doesn't have a sidewalk......It's got stairs! If you can start on that, you can start ANYWHERE.

Don't worry if you stall, it happens to everyone now and then.

 

about the driveway thing, I think you're just thinking about it too much. all you have to do is keep the rpms low, no matter what gear you're in.

as for starting out on a hill, I know it can be nerve wracking! it seems to me though, that people think they're drifting back further than they really are. add to that, people always feel closer on your butt than they usually are, so you might still have a good 4 or 5 feet back there and it won't look like it. when I first started driving a stick, I would just peel out and risk looking like a jerk rather than stall out and risk looking like a dork! lol! but seriously, it all just comes down to a little practice, and a nice quiet hilly road will be your best teacher.

 

let's just say you really, reeaaally have to suck to actually do damage. car companies build cars with the expectation that morons will be driving them.

 

I learned on my car, it wasnt that hard... but then again i used to watch my cousin drive his car for a long time so i had an idea....
