Default Aftermarket Alarm w/ Remote Start Suggestions

I am looking for a good aftermarket alarms for my XB that has remote start. I also would like it to have a good range so I can start it from a farther distance, and be able to control how long the car will run when I remote start it, any suggestions?

Default Audiovox is really good

Hey man, I just joined your club and thought I'd post on this topic. I got a 06 XB and put the Audiovox w remote start in and love it. I can reach my car from a long distance and the remote start is set at 10 mins. Engines cuts off and alarm resets. Not one problem with it yet.

I have the Viper 791xv, and I'm very happy with it! It does everything I need it to do. It's a very, very good and reliable alarm! I bought mine on eBay for $175.00 brand new, and had it installed for $200. I totally recommend it!

I use the Python 881 which is the same as the Viper 791 and the Clifford RS3.5. I love it and I truly believe DEI's products are some of the most reliable electronics on the planet. My overhead monitor has been in three different cars. The alarm on my brothers car was in two of mine before.

They can be kind of tricky if you haven't done any alarm installs before.

What type of range does the viper get?

I use a Compustar, model number in my profile...remote start/two way, works perfect, remote starts from a lonnng ways away and the time it stays started is controlable.

that is the only thing i don't like about teh 791vx
the installer has to set the time at install
i don't know if it can be changed without the DEI "bitwriter"
it is basically a plug-in programmer for DEI alarms
hooks to a computer and easy cheesy menus to set up

nothing in the entire instruction manual describes the user adjusting the run duration for and of the 3 (or 4 ??) timed run modes

I have the viper remote start and I love it. I wish it had a bigger range though. Only 200 feet, but other than that I love the alarm. It's great.

Actually the alarm has two ways to remote start. Pressing the lock and unlock together will start the car in Timed Mode; approx. 12-15 mins. The orange star button twice will run the car until no gas left. The installer doesn't have to set anything when first installing other than the tach signal. You can raise or lower the run time with out the bitwriter, you just don't get as many options though. Check with your installer for the manual and placement of the valet button as you will need it to change anything in the programming.
