I'm in love... (and my experience at the dealership)
...with the tc!!! (though the sales rep wasn't too bad either :D )
I was really scared about going into the dealership to check one out, I've never done anything like that before and I was afraid that I was going to be treated like some ignorant young girl (I'm 21, but barely look 1
. If scion wasn't pure pricing I'm not sure I would have considered going alone, but I'm glad I did. I went to the Millenium Toyota dealership in Garden City Long Island, the biggest Toyota dealership in NY. They had 3 tc's, a white manual, a white auto, and a black manual. I was a little dissapointed that they didn't have a flint or an azure for me to check out, nor an auto that I could testdrive, but I was happy just playing in the manual.
From the outside the car looked a little more bubbly than I expected, but in a good way. The first thing I did when I got into the car was to adjust the seat, and I was able to pump it up enough to sit comfortably, reach the steering wheel with ease, and not feel lost in the car (I'm barely 5'2, less than 110 lbs, and tend to feel really small in a lot of cars). Visibility was great, no complaints whatsoever. The seat material was a little strange, and I'm still up in the air over whether I like it or not. I don't think there was one thing I didn't like about the car.
However, what impressed me most were the dealers. When I walked in I spoke to one man who quickly referred me to a scion rep as soon as I mentioned the tc. The rep was really nice, not pushy, and actually listened to what I had to say. He left me alone to fiddle around in the car, and then came back to show me everything. When he started talking about the engine specs and all I told him I knew all of that and he stopped his speech. He was also quite understanding when I told him I wouldn't be buying a car w/o side airbags - not pushy or anything. He was also understanding when I explained that my father was big into the safety aspects of the car, and ran through his safety speech with me to see if it would be good enough for my dad. Also, there are no dealer markups at this place!!! I was so scared reading all of these posts about dealers charging upwards of $500 on these doc fees and whatnot, but there's none of that at this place (though I do believe we have an 8.5% tax in NY). Sorry for rambling, I'm just so excited. Now I just have to take my dad back, let him test drive a manual (his fav), and talk him into cosigning. Wish me luck

Good luck!!!

Glad to hear you found a dealer without the "documentation" fees - that's the one thing I'm glad the Scion build-your-own website has. When I put in my zipcode, I get a choice of 3 dealers - and after trying all three, I can see that only one doesn't charge a $595 documentation fee. Guess who'll I'll be going to when it comes time to buy? :D
