Default Towing and Suspension

Hello, I have an 06 xB that I use for work. I wanted to know what types of springs and/or shocks/struts would help when towing without dropping the whole box a lot. I will be towing a trailer approx 500 lbs around the city a couple times a month. I have seen a couple of hitches on etrailer.com, but wanted to know where to buy one that comes out of the middle of the bumper or some pics of those with them and how they mounted them. Also, what do I need to wire up the tail lights?

Thank you in advance,
Chris

A trailer and load of total weight of 500 lbs does not require any suspension changes. If you need suspension changes, you are towing too much for the xB, and besides, I can't think of any changes available for towing.

Curt makes the hitch. The hitch can be bought from them:
http://www.hitchsource.com/classitra...44fb3646ba0f12

You wil also need a wiring converter module, as the Xb's taillights are wired using a five wire system (euro) and most small trailer lights are wired as a four wire system (US). The converters can be bought at Hitchsource and many other stores.

Installing the hitch is easy, but not the converter, which can mess up the car's computer if you short the wires. U-Haul installs their brand of Curt hitches and the converter for about $350 with a guarantee.

If you read the owner's manual, it doesn't recommend this car for towing of any kind.

Whatever. I assume he did and is going to do it anyway. As long as you don't exceed the capacity it is not much different to move weight on a trailer or in the cabin. There are plenty of more possibly destructive things mentioned on this site than pulling a light trailer.

If it is an automatic, consider a transmission cooler.
