Dealers/Tc Owners - Carpet floor mat set that you don't want
Some Tc's are being shipped to dealers with the Carpet Floor Mat/Cargo Mat already in the car and on the window sticker. Lets say the Tc has everything you wanted except for the carpet/cargo mat set. Assume you will buy one aftermarket, what has been your ACTUAL experience with getting credit for the mat set even though it is on the window sticker? I spoke with a local Scion dealer and he says that it is OK for them to remove the carpet/cargo set and give you credit for this even thought it was on the sticker. As info., I sold Toyotas and what was on sticker is what you got and paid for. Is Scion handling this differntly? Thanks.
it varies dealer to dealer on their policy i guess. until they resell the set they are eating the money it takes to credit the car. we prefer to leave everything on the sticker in the car. i sold a xb with a 6disk in it and credited the price to swap in a single. it took awhile for the customer to come in and get it removed, which made the manager's very nervous about where their 395 went. then again, we don't bring in any units unless it is ordered or we are on less than a 30 day supply.
Interesting reply. I also asked same Scion dealer what if I wanted 18" wheels rather than 17". His reply was since 17" are standard then I would pay for 18" as an accessory. That is fine with me. He also said I can keep the 17" rims. Can anyone confirm this?
So my learning so far is...... If an item is standard for a Tc then no dealer credit can/will be given even if you don't think the feature is important.
HOWEVER, if a Scion is on the dealer lot with an option that is NOT standard and you don't want it (i.e., 6 disk CD) then the dealer may or may not give customer a credit to remove the non-standard option (ie change 6-disk cd to single disk, or as I said in my original post remove carpet set).
Is my undersatnding correct?
