Default Spray-on bedliner in the wheel wells

I'm sure all of you have heard about the sprayon bedliner craze and it really does look good when completed.

I had a thought though, it doesn't look like there's any real protection inside the wheel well, it's straight to the body.

What would you think of the sprayon bedliner in there? I wouldn't get it on the edge of the body, but I would get it on the lip that forms the shape of the wheel well.

I think it might be a good touch if done properly, I'm curious if they can match a paint color with that stuff.

Just a thought, and it might make it easier to clean.

Interesting thought, that would be pretty cool if it could match the body color. Do you think it would help dampen wheel/road noise at all? Were you thinking of doing it yourself, cause I wonder how expensive it would be to get it done?

I think Randode's wife had the inner wheel wells coated with something but not quite sure if it did anything but add to the bling...

I have no idea how much it costs. No I wouldn't do it myself though, most places that do spray on beds have a lifetime warranty on their work against cracks and stuff like that. I would like to have that backing...

I really don't even know where you could get that done either! haha

X trodinaire, have you ever used that stuff before? Just curious if it would be very hard.

i have used the can spray on my benz
i think it came from 3M

Not hard at all just like painting. But make sure you cover up the items you dont want to spray!
and spray in thin layers

i used it after discarding the rubber guards inside the wells (bodykit install)
i cant say it helped with noise reduction since i have aftermarket exhaust system

I used the 3M undercoating spray in my wheel wells it was time consuming to remove the plastic liners and scrub down everything but it came out cleaner than what I thought it was going to be. I have "Line X" in my truck and it looks great and is very durable... but for what it would of cost to have them do it to my scion for the little amount that actually shows. I saved my self about $300 bucks and bought $40 dollars worth of the 3M spray. One recomendation if you are going to do this degrease everything in the wheel well and throughly dry before you use the spray, you will also need to mask off all the brake lines and ABS wiring, suspension etc unless you do not mind overspray.

Good job! I'll have to look into it more before I get to doing something like that.

Sucks cause I would probably have to do wheel by wheel, I'm not too fond of jackstands :X

I've heard that they do make colored bedliner material, so I would imagine that they can color match too. My buddy's mom has a white dakota w/aqua trim and she got a bedliner that the trim (aqua) matches fairly well.

Anyways, my thought on the underliner to the wheel well thing is to do the glow in the dark bedliner and put strobes in the wheel wells so you can "charge up " the wheel wells and have a funky, eerie glow coming from there.

Just a though

Line-X is the company that I know of that has very good quality spray-in's that you can get done in different colors....I'm sure if you gave them the paint code they could match it, probably for a slightly higher fee us Lava people though ^_^

I also don't think that it's a good idea to colormatch the spray on any of the lighter colors since it'll look like crap after about 100 miles with the road grime...IMO

I have a little experience in this arena, and I think you would be best to use the 3m Undercoating. If you did have the line-x, or similar product installed, I think it might be cost prohibitive. The 3M stuff is fairly inexpensive.

On a related note, do not use the Spray on bedliner from dupli-color! This comes in a blue spray can, and is supposed to be a DIY version of the line-x. This stuff is not thick enough, nor as long lasting as the professional stuff. I've used it and I was very sorry.
