Default Heaqdlight Questions

Is there any way to wire the headlights to turn off when the ignitioin is turned off?

Is there any way to make the Xb have daytime running lights with the stock headlights?

Our Canadian friends HAVE to have daytime running lights when they import the xB. Not sure how they do it, but they get it converted.

Sure, there is a way to do almost anything. But in this case you would probably have to install a relay.

That's because the headlight switch switches ground (not 12Volts). But ignition switches 12V.

So, you would have to wire the 12V from the ignition to power up the relay and splice the NO relay contacts between the headlight switch and its ground connection.

I recommend that you buy the full wiring diagram available right from Toyota. It costs 50 bucks but it shows everything.

You can order it from the parts counter in your local dealership or by calling the number listed towards the back of the xB owner's manual.

DRL are usually more complicated because they are either high beams connected in series or wired through resistors (to decrease their brightness). So, there would be some additional circuits needed.
