View Full Version : Rear Disc brakes for Scion xB MocoBOX 08-02-2006, 11:16 PM Does anyone know where I can get them? losmorob 08-02-2006, 11:20 PM The best thing about the Scionlife website? The search function!! http://www.scionlife.com/forums/search.php?mode=results K_Dawg_ONE 08-02-2006, 11:45 PM I beleive it had been done before using the rear discs from an old Corolla GTS-S. I think just brackets had to be made to hold on the caliper. No 'porpotioning valve' (I think thats what its called...controls the brake pressure to the rear brakes) didnt need to be added either...youll have to search the forums though... losmorob 08-02-2006, 11:57 PM Here's just a couple of the many threads regarding this topic. Search and there's more. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2670&highlight=rear+disc+brakes http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24548&highlight=rear+disc+brakes Hope that helps. saddlesore 08-03-2006, 07:46 AM more things to put on the '07's 4 wheel disc brakes (std) map light between the sun visors, (std) factory cruise (std) telescope'n wheel (to go with the tilt function)(std) what do ya'll think? hotbox05 08-03-2006, 08:30 AM THERE ARE NO 07 xB'S!!!!! losmorob 08-03-2006, 11:24 AM Wow! This is just his wish list! :nails: Bsbox 08-03-2006, 12:19 PM I also heard there would be no 07 xB's. I guess it's old news now. If you got one hold on to it. If your not happy with it's bad points fix'em. I rigged my own map light between the visors with a $5 LED headlight available at all fine Wal-Mart stores. Has a red an white light. Rear discs would be nice as standard equipment though. Cruise should only be on Automatics. And a telescopic wheel just sounds a bit dangerous to me. If you can't adjust the seat to get in a comfy position maybe a tC or xA is the way to go. pooder 08-03-2006, 01:01 PM Does anyone know where I can get them? Why? I mean really, why would you want 'em? Little light car like xB doesn't need discs on the rear, surely. The front brakes do almost all the work and ABS ia there to keep the rear in line. I find the xB braking to be excellent under all conditions I've encountered, including on snow and ice or in panic braking conditions. I repeat, WHY?? K_Dawg_ONE 08-03-2006, 03:07 PM ^^Could be for looks. If I werent selling my bBox, being as its a show car, id be doing the rear disc conversion.... pooder 08-03-2006, 04:03 PM ^^Could be for looks. If I werent selling my bBox, being as its a show car, id be doing the rear disc conversion....Oh. Erm . . . OK. I forgot where I was for a moment. I bought my xB for its functionality, but . . . . I guess it's like the PHAT rear tire on my chopper; functional, not really -- but it looks HOT! hotbox05 08-03-2006, 06:38 PM hey a fat rear tire is more straight line traction. and rear disc brakes while not a lot better still will stop the car better. sprslug_182 08-03-2006, 06:56 PM Wilwood makes a rear kit for the xB sprslug_182 08-03-2006, 06:59 PM last I heard anyhow xAlex 08-03-2006, 07:47 PM this place sells a "rear disc conversion kit" for the scion xA/xB http://highonscion.com/chassisProducts.htm hotbox05 08-03-2006, 08:20 PM a lot of places make kits but good lord their prices are astronomical saddlesore 08-05-2006, 12:04 AM the reason for the telescope'n wheel is that when I have the seat back enough for my legs, I must have my arms extended to reach the wheel, verry tiring with the long commute that I do (270 miles one way, round trip 2 times a month) and what is the prob. with cruise on a stick shift? hell, even my Peterbuilt has cruise with an 18 sp. tranny as well as a tilt/telescope steering wheel as standard equipment! 3.5 million miler....and still a rookie :P |
