Did that just happen? :nails:
So today I decided to install my new CAI. Everything was going pretty smoothly, all the peices were coming together nicely. Untill I reached over the front end of the car to clamp a hose and leaned on it just enough to watch the car slowly slip off of the jack and land on the rotor...as for body damage none that I can see atleast. Now as for my rotor it looks pretty beat up now where it hit the pavment, but it doesnt look too bad. Also the plate behind the rotor is slightly damaged(what is that?). So now on top of my newly aquired "whistle". Something around the rotor is scraping and making all kinds of noise. I think im gonna go back out and check it. I bet I bent the rotor slighty and the breaks are what is squeling...God im an idiot, if only I had the e brake on...
Was thinking about buying new rotors anyway. In the mean time I just wanna make the noise go away. And guess what, the auto places around here dont carry rotors for the tC. The wifes not gonna like it when I tell her i need to buy a new rotor either >_<
theres a guy in the classifieds that has an amazing deal on the BBK for powerslots he wants 500 front and rear, front is used but rear is new.... here's the link

This happened when I was changing a flat tire on a buddy's minivan, I didn't know he didn't have the ebrake on and he pushed on the wheel to get it to turn and nearly crushed my legs when the crappy little jack shot out and we had to start all over.
Anyway, I'd use your experience as an excuse to upgrade to new rotors. The other thing that you bent sounds like the brake dust shield.

Good news fellas, the noise I was hearing was infact the brakedust shield(thanks Magnus213) bent touching the rotor. Alittle brute strength and the noise is gone. Brakeing seems fine too no noise what so ever. When it fell it was literally in slow motion so im hoping nothing else is damaged. And as for it being an excuse to buy new rotors, thats out the window. Cause in my wifes mind...or any womens minds in that matter "No noise = No problem"

I hope it was just the dust shield and good luck with the wife.
you could always try scaring her-
you know the whole "if i dont get new brakes, they could suddenly fail and i could go crashing into the read end of a car or worse, into an intersection and get tboned and die!"
that might work, but hey...

Hopefully, after seeing your car drop like that, you will never get under the car without it being supported with jack-stands. Also, if you do your own work on the car (putting on the CAI) and have enough money to buy a brake kit for your car, why do you not have jack-stands? I have never had a car slip off a jack because I have always used stands. If I am going to be under a car, I don't want to take any chances. Good luck with the brakes and the wife. Hope everything comes out ok.
GG! always use parking brake and wood blocks behind your rear wheels. CMON NOW!
but i saw this happen to a van outside my friends house. a sienna in fact. jacked up on stock jack. and just completely failed on him. the driver front end hit the ground. felt so bad.

If I'm anywhere under a car, I've got the jackstands AND the jack just barely under another safe liftpoint. I'm not worried about breaking the car, I'm worried about getting KILLED!!!
A guy that worked with my father was under the car using a crappy scissor jack when the thing fell on him. His family wasn't home, and supposedly it took over 2 hours for him to die under the car. The family came home to dad's limp body smashed under the car. So tell me again why you wouldn't use some precautions?
