are factory subwoofers any competition to 12'' xplods
well i have a 12 inch sony xplod, with an audiobhan amp. i love the bump and bass i get from it. now i'm wondering if the factory subs will give the same effect (i doubt it though :? ) and if not, you think my subs can fit in the trunk of the tC? here are some pics of my sub and amp:

it looks like it may fit but at the worse... there will be a "bulge" under ur trunk cover... should be fine though.
the only think that worries me about my subs is how im gonna get them in there without hindering the recline on the rear seats. .... maybe ill face the subs toward the seats since that side has an angle.... but i dont want the wires from the back showing :-p grrrrr
lol best of luck

That should fit and I dont think the factory sub will hit as hard as yours
BTW you might want to mount the amp next time on the rear seat....the way you have it set up now makes it eazyer for me to steal I mean for people to steal
DO NOT remove the amp now because it most likly leave holes behide and you could brake the box open.

the sub should be facing backwards with some spacing available from the face of the sub... the whole goal here isn't convenience you said you wanted it to hit... CABIN GAIN... this is your goal... either trash the box and build one to fit, or ditch the hatch cover... face the sub towards the rear and give it about 10" or so of "breathing" room... the alternative would be to face it upwards... you will lose several db's if you face if forward... give it a try in any hatchback...
BUT... no matter what it will be much louder than it ever was in your accord...

absolutely... hatchbacks are notorious for extra bass from the same setup... the back glass acts like a megaphone... if I see one more redneck in a Trans AM / Camaro with a Realistic 12" and a 50Watt booster from Pepboys... I swear...
cabin gain... that is why we use completely different speakers and boxes than you find in a DJ setup or even your home theater...
the basic science is that sound travels in waves at approximately 1085 feet per second... take the length of your car's insides (from semiflat surface to semiflat surface - so for the tC from dash to back of "trunk") approximately 12 feet... supposedly it is over 8 feet from back of front seats to back of "trunk"... so take 1085 ft / s and divide it by 12 feet... you are left with 90 _/per seconds... well the" _ " is cycles.. or Hertz.... so that is bass... you'll see the most gain at approximately 75 to maybe 110Hz...
if you work this out for a pickup truck, say a standard cab is 3 feet deep... the cabin gain will be focused around that frequency, but it will also be focused around the width... which might be 6 feet... so the gain will show up at 180 Hz... that is about were a male voice is centered... not what we are looking for...
most bass that you are listening to is in the 50 to 100 range.. you can hear as low as 20 Hertz, but rarely do you find this in music... most rap and techno "beats" hit in this 50 to 100 range...
the biggest problem you were having with your Accord was the back seat... stick a sock in your mouth and see how loud you can yell... well that is how your sub feels in that trunk...
